It's sad that Mike could have been a character to encourage people to come out of the closet in a positive way, and now there are people who are coming out of the closet because they are scared that they are going to end up miserable like his character, because the future that Vecna described for Will about ending up alone, is what at the end happened with Mike's character.

It's also sad that Will was scared of the group ending up separated and at the end, that's what happens, in the future that Mike imagines for Will, he goes to a big city, without his friends and I suppose that he ends up having barely any contact with them💔.

Both of their endings are tragic, and the writing doesn't do them justice.
