Fresh in from eBay (via Thailand, for some strange reason), my Grail Barbour, the Ducks Unlimited Beaufort. It needs a bit of a clean, and maybe a reproof, but VERY excited about this one.

On our final Barbour People summer outing, we found ourselves basking in the sun at England’s premier agricultural event, the Great Yorkshire Show. We spotted Will wearing his classic Bedale Barbour wax jacket – he received this as a gift on his 18th birthday.
Sunday afternoon
I dig this look with the Solway Zipper.
Joanna wrapped up in her classic Barbour Beadnell waxed jacket for a cold day in Edinburgh for the Scotland vs England Six Nations rugby match.
This is my favorite image from the Barbour catalogs (this one coming from the 1994 catalog). It’s a shame that the Longshoreman is no longer available. Source is @thornproof, of course.
Fall Inspiration from Heavy Tweed Jacket
Some fall inspiration from one of my favorite blogs, Heavy Tweed Jacket. Tweed sport coats, oxford cloth button downs, classic neckties, Shetland sweaters, Barbour jackets, and the occasional tartan shirt. In simple and basic colors – pale pink, light blue, and white for the oxfords; navy and gray for the sweaters; green and brown for the jackets – this is the kind of stuff you can combine easily and endlessly.
Very inspiring!
HTJ strikes again.

There’s nothing that could be added to this to improve it.
My grandmother was a Southern lady, a Presbyterian preacher’s wife, and a drinker of gin and tonics. Smart lady.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN WAXED-CANVAS SHIRT 1. Lay shirt flat and unbutton all buttons. 2. Wax around all seams first. Spread the wax on evenly, press firmly. More wax means less coats. We like to use Greenland Wax. 3. Iron with the steam off on level 1 or 2. It must be a dry iron setting. Slowly iron over all waxed surfaces. 4. Repeat wax coats until your achieve your desired look. More wax means more character, texture and waterproof. (We usually go with four coats for a perfect finish.)
