MAN OMG. i should see if i do. it's either deep in my google drive or on my olddddd laptop i used at the time...

for context it was a writing/philosophy interdisciplinary course and part of our curriculum involved reading and watching detective/'crime' fiction (novels/movies/some tv show eps) and among other things analyzing the methods the detective character(s) used to get to conclusions

anyway one of our options for the final was writing a short story that reflected at least Something we learned in class, so my loose newmann AU was newt and hermann as rival private detectives who operate with different Detection Methods but obviously assume their own method is better. Not-Hermann was of course more of a holmes archetype but i can't remember what path i took for Not-Newt....

so, i accidentally ruined this piece of fanart that i got in a newmann zine years ago. i was really upset when i found it, but the more i look at it, the more it's almost poetic because the closer they get to kissing, the more damaged it is... it's almost like an old relic that hermann keeps that reminds him how much newt has changed and how much their relationship is gone after the second movie's events...
