TW: suicide, brief mentions of the TTI under the cut.

I've been hesitating to speak my part on this, mostly because I'm still not sure if there's been any evidence of any of this being accurate information, but I want to give my two cents on the alleged suicide "caused by" Devsisters and the most recent CRK update.

First thing's first, if this is a thing that's genuinely happened, and you're exclusively boycotting Devsisters over it, you're being performative. I don't care if that's harsh--it's true. If you truly want to see a change, if you care for others and want to play your part in preventing this from happening again, your support needs to stem out from every direction possible. If you take one look at the current state of psychiatry, hotlines and facilities designed to assist the mentally ill, you can safely deduce that there's work to be done. There's protests that need to happen, there's reformation to be done, there's people sitting pretty on their high horses "overseeing" these hospitals and doing squat to actually support the people whom need them. There's a lot to be fucking done. If your gut instinct was to boycott Devsisters, your heart is in the right place, and your ethics are not.

Hospitals are not safe. The TTI is thriving. People are actively suffering under the medical care of mental health professionals. The system has to be reworked. If all you wanna do is reject playing a game with millions of players worldwide, you're missing the critical piece; this is not Devsister's problem to bare. I say this as someone who has lost loved ones to suicide; this is, I daresay, a direct consequence of the systems in place being unsafe and inaccessible to someone who needed them. Professionals within a school or medical environment who failed to see and/or report the signs.

Pointing fingers after a tragedy is unfortunately natural, but make no mistake, it is not a behaviour that should be normalised. Let the family grieve and stop holding Devsisters "accountable" for something that they could not have foreseen. Devsisters, along with any game production company, is not responsible for coddling your loved one's state of mind. Reach out to them, if you're worried. Say something. Check on your loved ones. I'm begging you.
