Just wanted to wish Pokemon a happy 20th birthday!

Peace, finally.

I have a lot of feelings for the stories that developed around twitch plays pokemon. Among other things, I like to believe that after helping Red/Twitch beat the game, Lord Helix went back to his dormant state. And that ATV did not make it out of the dragon fight unharmed.

Watercolour and a bit of acrylic marker. The subtle background got kinda lost while scanning, sorry. But the colors are fairly close to original.

Silly TPP Games

Just a quick compilation post of a few simple games based off the TPP phenomenon!

First up, Flappy Bird clones. The most well known of these is probably this version, which has the best looking art and several news articles reporting on its existence.

There are a few others as well, though, including this one and this one, which use a Flappy Bird creator tool and are playable online.

There is also a version playable online here that has art very similar to the original Flappy Bird.

If you’re in the mood for some mindless clicking, a Cookie Clicker clone is also available. You can find it here and click to your heart’s content.

If you’re searching for guidance, you can also get an app that lets you ask the Helix Fossil what to do, or just visit the website to consult the Helix.

Today in history of the Church of the Helix: The Helix Fossil was worshipped regularly in the Royal Courts, and King James IV was often seen bringing this magnanimously crafted golden chalice of our Lord to his lips. A sample Order of Service pamphlet from The First Congregation of the Church of Helix. Top left is front cover, top right is pg 1, bottom left pg 2, bottom right is the back cover. Relatively simple and not too ornate, so that it can be printed easily/cheaply and clearly deliver the information it's meant to, which is the basic order of events during a church service.

VI. The Lovers: Super-Nerd Miguel and the two FOSSILS. Given there isn’t much in the way of romance in TPP, I focused on the alternate meaning of the card as a significant, life-shaping choice. This moment gave birth to a religion beneath the Mountain of the Moon. VII. The Chariot: AATTVVV, the ALL-TERRAIN VENOMOTH. The noble steed carries our hero to victory over the mighty DRAGONITE of Lance. VIII. Justice: AA-j, the ARCHANGEL OF JUSTICE. This ZAPDOS, also known as BATTERY JESUS, represents the harsh choices the team had to make to achieve victory. He holds his mighty THUNDERBOLT in one claw, while the other balances the CHAMPION’S TROPHY against the 12 Pokemon lost on Bloody Sunday. IX. The Hermit: OMASTAR, the LORD HELIX. Helix, though he is often WITHDRAWN, is the guiding spiritual force of the team. He bears the flag of ANARCHY and guides his trainer via a lantern bearing the HOLY BUTTON INPUTS. X. Wheel of Fortune: The HELIX FOSSIL. It is the ultimate force of CHAOS, yet paradoxically a clear force for guidance. Floating against the backdrop of MADDENING CHATTER, it is the quintessential relic of power for all those who follow ANARCHY.

Twitch Dates Pokemon

Hi folks,

The past several months I haven't paid much attention to the TPP community, and when I return this is one of the first things I come across. A dating sim for Twitch Plays Pokemon.

Boy, you guys have been keeping busy.

You can check out the game's webpage and subreddit page for more information and a download of the first part of the game. (the rest is still a work in progress) 

I haven't finished playing through Week 1 of this visual novel yet, but what I've seen so far is fantastic. The art is great, the music is great, there's an impressive amount of interesting plot with good pacing and good grammar. (Hey, grammar's nothing to sneeze at-- you'd be surprised how many games fail in that department!) The characters are well-developed and adapted nicely to the school setting they're placed in.

You'll find pokemon from the first two generations of TPP games in there, and no doubt you'll see all the fan-favorite characters. It takes place from the point of view of Burrito the Espeon, a transfer student to the prestigious Twitch Academy. 

As a dating sim/visual novel it's mainly about reading and making choices that impact the flow of the storyline (a sort of choose-your-own-adventure/romance novel.) But you'll find the story engaging, witty and fun, packed with plenty of TPP references and nostalgia. What's more, it would be enjoyable even if you're a pokemon fan with no idea about the mythos of Twitch Plays Pokemon.

When I first came across this I laughed and expected it to be at least mildly amusing. I was honestly surprised how good it is and how much I've been enjoying it, though. Is it silly that there's a pokemon dating sim? Of course. And it's also friggin' awesome. I suggest giving it a shot.
