i feel like i'm going crazy, like, mariah carrey decided to be a "lolita" for halloween (which like ??? not a costume but okay 🥴) and everyone over on instagram is going wild for it because she's wearing all meta but like... as far as an actual lolita coord goes, it looks bad to me. just because you're wearing all brand doesn't mean your coord is good. she's literally wearing a hot pink wig that doesn't go with the coord and weird shiny stockings that 1000% make her whole coord look like a weird costume. like if anyone else were to post this as their first coord, they'd be gently told to maybe go back to the drawing board, but because it's a celebrity, everyone's just losing their shit and acting like it's amazing?? i don't understand celebrity worship at all. it's a bad coord and just being all brand doesn't mean shit, at the end of the day it's just a costume for her.

You dont need to be rich to be a lolita but i feel like a lot of lolitas who say theyre not rich.... are rich lmao. Definitely not poor. One meetup i went to had me depressed after cause it was like... the meetup itself was what i spent my extra money on. we went to (for me at least) an expensive restaurant and then went antiquing after. The latter for me was just window shopping, but there were others buying, like one chick got a freaking chandelier. Likr it was just so glaringly obvious how different our income brackets were in that moment bc there i was lamenting that i shouldn't spend seven dollars on a necklace after spending that much money on lunch. Then there's like idk ppl who maybe arent rich but they can afford a house, having kids, a car and their wardrobe full of brand.

Ykno, theres a big difference between being poor bc u spent it on brand vs being poor bc.... u dont have money in the first place lmao.
