I remember as a schoolboy being told by artist Roger Dean that Chris Rossâs SF book covers, featuring enormous space ships, were actually pictures of Vaccuum Cleaners, Irons, and things youâd find around the house. (Also being told by Roger that Chris Foss could indeed draw people and had illustrated The Joy of Sex.) Which meant I could never again see a Chris Foss spaceship without imagining it in a kitchen.

Giuseppe Penoneâs hand is so strong, it can squeeze trees. Iâm talking about his bronze sculpture of a hand, of course. This Italian artist installed it onto a tree in Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas, in 1968, and itâs even more spectacular after many decades have passed.
The âContinuerĂ a crescere tranne che in quel puntoâ (âIt Will Continue to Grow Except at this Pointâ) was made from a cast of the artistâs actual hand and lower arm. Giuseppe attached in onto a sapling, and throughout the years the tree would thicken around the metal. Now, it looks like that hand is stretching the bark with its fingers. (Source)

Unreal
Can we get a name???
This is Chinese artist, Luo Li Rong
Hereâs a snippet about her from this article (that also features more photographs of her work, including this sculpture):
Rong has pursued sculpting since an early age. She studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, then under the tutelage of sculptor Wang Du, and later she âimmersed herselfâ in figurative sculpture techniques used by European artists in the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Their sense of femininity plays a defining role in Rongâs contemporary works, and the stylistic guidelines help carry on the tradition of realistic sculptures in art.
