ever since i was little i have been terrified of paddlefish. i saw a couple’a paddlefish swimmin around at the shedd aquarium in chicago and i knew they just weren’t for me. no wildlife had or has ever really scared me except for them. in my fear i still had curiosity so i read about them and the little sign said they live in the ohio river, which was bad news for me.
for years every time we drove over the river and i was terrified the bridge would collapse and we’d plummet into the murky depths and we’d all survive miraculously only so a paddlefish could swim through our shattered window.
when i got to college to study wildlife i found out that paddlefish are endangered in ohio and required our protection. I thought …..how Inconvenient.
Now I will dedicate my life and passion to them.
but they better not EVER look at me.
This? This is what you’re afraid of? These fish with handles?
I am who I am and I don’t owe anyone any explanation
how to tell when an lgbt+ character is written by a straight person:
person a: would you mind straightening the store up?
person b, the lgbt one: [doesn’t make a gay joke]
because maybe……..youre gonna be the one that maybe

Hi there - I'm auditioning for Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, I'm a mezzo soprano/alto (I generally sing with altos but can go a bit higher than most altos) and the age range of the character is 25-35. I"m a bit older than this but generally pass for early/mid-thirties onstage. I'm looking for a song that shows Audrey's sweetness and pathos; I have considered "Part of Your World" but given its ubiquity would like something a bit more out of the way. Thank you so much!
I think that’s a very good choice. Another song that I really think captures Audrey in the Somewhere That’s Green reprise is the ending bit of “Inside Your Heart” from Batboy.
“Part of Your World” is good because
1. It’s the same composer
2. It parallels the first Somewhere That’s Green
3. Audrey is definitely Disney Princess-y.
I would consider pairing it or replacing it entirely with something that parallels Suddenly Seymour. Maybe something like “Someone Like You” from Jekyll and Hyde? I’m suggesting this because Suddenly Seymour is a more powerful moment in the show for Audrey. But I think anything where you can really show that downtrodden Disney Princess thing would be great too.
Deep In The Darkest Night, from Dracula: The Musical Music: Frank Wildhorn Lyrics: Don Black, Christopher Hampton
Okay, so I just started listening to Dracula yesterday and I'm a little bit obsessed. This is, by far, my favorite song. It's PERFECT for auditions. It's driven, it's strong, and it's just frickin' beautiful. I think it would be especially effective in an audition for a contemporary classic like Les Mis or Phantom. It's so hard to find good stuff for shows like that that aren't completely overdone that a song like this one would be a breath of fresh air for the auditioners who've heard Anthem four or five times in the last hour alone.
(I know I usually like for the videos to be live performances, but Norm's voice is AMAHZING. I couldn't pass it up.)
Do you happen to have the sheet music to Change by WIlliam Finn from A New Brain? Thanks!!
Here you go! Enjoy!
Small announcement regarding sharing sheet music:
I am happy to share sheet music from my collection, but from now on, I will be sharing links exclusively by way of private message. That means I will not be giving sheet music away when people ask anonymously. I really don't feel comfortable with having links to my dropbox collection on the blog for everyone to see. I hope you understand. Thank you!
P.S. I've been really busy with school, so I've been shirking with my blog duties. I PROMISE I'll get back to posting at least once a week.
Do you have the sheet music for Almost Real from The Bridges of Madison County?
I do not! If anyone has the Bridges score, please hook me up so I can hook y'all up! I really want this score!
I can't find the sheet music for "Screw Loose" from Cry Baby for free, do you know where that might be?
Here it is! Enjoy.
Hi, I was wondering if you had the sheet music for Calm, Cool and Collected from Calvin Berger? And if not do you have any idea where I could find it? Thank you!
Here it is! Enjoy!
hi there, I was wondering if you had the sheet music for Live Out Loud from A Little Princess or Maybe from Miss Saigon? thank you so much! :)
Here is the link for Little Princess. Ironically, I do not own the score for Miss Saigon, despite being Vietnamese.
If anyone out there has it, please submit it to me so I can pass it on to this anon!
hey! I'm auditioning for rent and I would like to either be Mimi or Maureen. I was thinking about singing Life of The Party from The Wild Party or Superboy and the Invisible Girl from Next to Normal. any suggestions or tips?
Life of the Party is a great choice. I think, for Rent, it would be really nice if you sang a rock song from that era. For instance, you could sing Your Love for Mimi or I Hate Myself For Loving You for either of the girls, really. I would suggest picking a song that's really fun for you to sing. There's nothing worse than someone singing a fun rock song and just standing there. So rock out with your you-know-what out.
Take Me To The World from Evening Primrose
Music And Lyrics: Stephen Sondheim
I was looking through an old songbook of mine, and I came across this gem. I have no idea what this film is, but the music was written by our very own messiah, Stephen Sondheim. The convenient thing is that this music is from an earlier work of his and is therefore a lot simpler musically than, say, On The Steps Of The Palace.
This is your standard Disney Princess "I Want" song. We have a character who has literally never seen the world outside of a department store, and she yearns for it more than anything. This could be used for a wide range of characters from Bonnie to Rapunzel to Ariel.
Another positive thing is that it's not terribly high, but it sounds pretty impressive in a mezzo voice.
Do you have sheet music for I'm Not That Guy from Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson? If you don't do you know where I could find it? Thanks.
Here it is! Enjoy!
Do you have the sheet music for Where Am I Now? from Lysistrata Jones?
