Those close to me know I live for cake. Cake is my first love. I'll post my top 3 favorite cake from @chateau_gateaux My boyfriend introduced me to this amazing spot for delicious cake some time ago and now I can't have any other cake without comparing it to cake from this place. • • Number 3: For me it's the B-1 dark chocolate cake. I'm not a fan of dark chocolate but this cake got me at my first bite. I usually shy away from dark chocolate because I can never finish it. It's usually too rich for me but this B-1 cake I was able to finish it, the dark chocolate is not overpowering at all. DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

How do you explain something that you don't understand to the next person. "Bad days" are the worst because when they ask "what is wrong?" And you respond "I don't know" they just stare at with the "WTF" look. You stare back with empty eyes because you genuinely don't know what's wrong and why you are feeling the way you are feeling.

When I first went to see a Dr with these symptoms that made me really concerned: tight chest, numbness on my left hand side and crazy heart palpitations  (just to name a few) my stress levels were at it's highest  pick from constantly being sick and not being able to work for almost 2 years. The Dr said to me "you have Anxiety and you are depressed. You need to stop stressing because you are just going to get worse."

I thought to myself alright I have Anxiety and I told just one friend about the depression part. The one main reason I told that one friend I knew that I don't see him every day and he was not from South Africa so he's going to leave and this will remain my secret. I didn't want to make it anymore real or part of me in any way. I don't know then why it was easier for me to be able to say to my mom "The Dr said I have Anxiety" and not mention depression part when she asked "How did things go at the Dr." I didn't even tell my partner and he's the most supportive, understanding, caring and patient human being I've ever met. I see now that for me it was about me being in denial and not wanting to accept that. I thought I will deal with it all by myself but what I didn't know was when I hit those low days all these people around me are affected. So this secret of mine I'm trying to contain it ticks, ticks and ticks and when it blows up everyone around me gets affected.

When I finally decided to tell my two girlfriends what I'm dealing with they still saw me as I was. My partner just told me he knew and he'll always be there. My mom I am still to sit down with her and explain it fully but she knows. She always knew.

I still don't know how to go about it at times but talking about it with some of the people close to me has made me feel better. My one friend told me "Share your stories because they help you heal as well." I guess we are all just trying to figure this life thing out and it's okay not to have it all together. If you are going through the same thing I'm going through, sometimes opening up to someone helps you rise up and get some air. It doesn't take it all away but it sure does make it better. Don't let being a private person make you die in silence from being afraid of what will people say or think of you. Don't suffer in silence.

I was honored with an award by Every Girl Has a Dream for making a positive impact in my community via my company Equipmodel. Equipmodel is a platform for aspiring models to come and learn about the modeling industry. We host workshops and give models tools to be able to approach modeling agencies. We talk about issues in the modeling industry and also alert young ladies about human trafficking and scams that happen in the industry.

It was a beautiful day filled with a lot of inspiring woman. I came back home inspired and renewed.

Models go through a lot in this industry. A lot of times people don't see us as "human beings". Agents, photographers and clients exploit us. When you speak out the label "DIVA" "HARD TO WORK WITH" will be plugged on you. Family and friends will start policing you on how to behave, how to eat (without even being aware of it.) It's not always glamorous and easy. I do it because I love it.
