Audrey had honestly been joking a bit. Not thinking that he would take her offer seriously. Sitting up a bit straighter in her seat, her attention drifted only for a moment to the treats he had ready to share. She admittedly had such a sweet tooth, it was a problem. Sometimes, if she didn't have a proper treat at home she would eat just a spoon full of sugar.
Blinking a few times at his question, Audrey's eyes lit up. "Wait, really?" Grabbing for her bag she pulled out a blue folder. Inside were pictures of the place she was currently living, a rather nice two bedroom apartment above her garage. "It's like two streets over, big brick building that has a two car garage on street level. I live in the apartment that's above it, below is my personal garage. Your portion of rent would be about $400 a month. That's including pretty much every utility." Scrambling a bit she slid the photos across the table.
"There is a really nice in unit washer and dryer. Quiet hours for me usually start at like 9pm, unless I'm in work mode, but you can't hear anything from the garage in the apartment, I made sure of that." Trying to think if she forgot anything, she pulled out her phone. "Oh, and I do have a dog. His name is Ratchet. He is house trained and has all his shots."
.
Remy opened his eyes wide at the photos Audrey showed him. A two-bedroom apartment? A two-car garage? So close to the town center? "And you've been living here on your own?" He listened as she told him further details regarding the utilities (utilities!), and more important stuff like the cost of rent. It was not cheap, but he could make do. Surely he wouldn't get a better deal anywhere else. "Yeah, it looks... It's just about perfect, I'd say."
Audrey kept showing him photos. Remy kept looking at them, but his thoughts slowly drifted away to the matter of breaking the news to his family. As far as he knew, most families were glad to see their kids move out, especially when they were about Remy's age already. But his family was not like that. Everyone lived in the same neighborhood, often in the same building, and if someone moved out, it was only to make the home even bigger. No leaving the nest. They weren't birds, after all. And family looked after each other, and being away made that pretty difficult.
When Audrey pulled out her phone and showed him her dog, though, Remy's attention returned to the matter at hand, and he made a little grimace. He didn't like dogs... He didn't like most usual pets, actually. Fish and parakeets where okay, he guessed, but cats and dogs? No sir. Still... He could get over that, if the place was nice enough. And it did look more than nice enough. "Ratchet. Fitting, I guess."
"He's house trained. Has had all of his shots. Will fully respect your personal space, until you have a treat in hand then he will be at your heels until he gets it." Audrey reported with a laugh. Tucking her phone away, eyes wide and hoepful she looked back to Remy. "Look, I understand it's a big descision to make. And you've probably got so many other friends or what not that you could live with. Or even you just like living where you currently do. Not that I know your current living situation or anything." Audrey was starting to ramble. "But, I'm a little desperate and this place is amazing, would you want to come by for a tour maybe. Meet Ratchet? See if this place could actually be a good fit for you."
