A Love Letter for My Jeans: I’ve had these jeans for a few years now and while I’m not proud of their origins, I am pleased to say they have experienced more than #30wears! They used to be my favorite pair of pants and fit just right. I wore them to school, to dinner with friends, to concerts etc. However, after a breakup, and weight gain, I stopped wearing them. When I no longer fit into the jeans I thought it was possibly for the best. Maybe wearing them would make me think too much about the past. I decided to get rid of them and forgot they existed. Then, a couple of days ago, while moving my things, I found them in a box. I’ve recently lost the weight I gained so I decided to try them on– they fit perfectly! It felt strange, yet exciting, to be wearing them again. Although memories came flooding back of what my life was like the last time these jeans were in my wardrobe, it also put into perspective how far I’ve come since then. I’ve been able to cultivate a healthier relationship with my body, take more control of my mental health, graduate from college, make amazing friends, and date the love of my life. As the saying goes- “Make new friends, but keep the old.” (Girl Scouts anyone?) And I’m ready to make new memories with this old friend.
