sometimes I think too hard about like. how the ability to record audio fundamentally changed how humans interact with music. can you imagine if the only time you ever heard music in your whole life was when you or another human being in your actual physical presence decided to create it. and 99.99% of the time that person was not a professional but just like your wife or your dad or your co-worker or church choir singing or playing whatever they happened to know. i honestly don't think we can fathom it

this shit doesn't even necessarily have to originate from someone obviously conservative. these biases are ingrained in all of us from the conservative society we've grown up in and lived in. it is actively being pushed onto us from all sides.
many "allies" will also participate in or spearhead harassment campaigns, and many "allies" functionally repeat TERF or nazi ideas the moment it becomes uncomfortable or difficult to hold support or nuance for imperfect and targeted marginalized people.
it is always easier to throw a targeted individual under the bus than to be the next one on the chopping block. it is always easier to throw a targeted individual under the bus to protect your own place of relative privilege at their expense.
have a fucking backbone this pride. learn about TME privilege and transmisogyny. learn about racism. learn about the ways we can prevent future instances of harm or abuse (hint: it doesn't involve forever prisons or the death penalty!). stand up for marginalized people who have made mistakes or caused harm, and actually act on your supposed anti-carceral values. do not allow fascism to drive marginalized people out of society through simply pointing out any instance of harm or supposed harm they've caused – everyone has caused harm, so if that's all it takes, we are paving a path for us all to be driven out.
