Frankie: lol you spelled all the time wrong. And yeah!! Just some simple stuff for them to grab and pop into the microwave. I know! And they're growing so quickly too :(
August: If we fill their fridge, it should be food preppy kind of stuff. Nothing they have to put too much labor into. We really are so lucky to have so many babies in our lives. Takes the pressure off us to have them ourselves right now 😂
August: Oh my gosh… that sounds so yummy! Awwww… I love you so much! Yeah, the place is perfect. Near your mom and dad AND soooo close to the beach 🏖️
Frankie: Oh that is genius! I get out of work early so I'll go to the supermarket and get things for them so we can meal prep before we go to them. They're going to be so surprised. And you're telling me! Listen I love new baby smell but not having the pressure is soo nice.
Frankie: I love you too! Aug we're going to be so tanned lmao
August: I’m smart sometimes! I’m sure Jade’s coworkers will help with that kind of stuff, too. But maybe they will crave something clearly not made by a chef 😂 I remember when your sisters were itty bitty babies. They were fun to play with and then give back.
August: You’ve already got a bit of a leg up on me in that department 😆
August: I would love to see the babies! They’re going to be so tiny…
August: Want to just do some takeout? Or even just eat out? It is such a pain in the ass to find stuff in the kitchen. Babe, we’re going to get it. I’m so confident!
Frankie: yesss! I'll tell Jade. We can bring them something to eat! Or fill up their fridge or something. They are going to be so so small! I can't wait. We're so lucky we get to hang out with everyone's babies lol
Frankie: I like that idea. We'll get something out. I want to try that new icecream place by the bus stop. I heard they have dulce de leche and it's all I've been thinking about. That and you of course. Thanks, Aug. I know you're right but we found something near mom and dad and its perfect and I just hope what we put down will sway the sellers.

Frankie: Hey babe! Do you want to come with me to visit the brand-new twins after work? Jade and Rodrigo could probably use a nap and /or shower lol
Frankie: Also, what are we thinking for dinner? I've packed a lot of shit that I feel like we're living out of boxes and now I think maybe I did too much since we don't even know if we'll go under contract at this rate.

I can't believe school starts in a month. If I were these kids, I'd be hard-pressed to fight this. Didn't school JUST end? Why does everything feel like a fever dream? Did June even happen? I have a 13-year-old now. Thirteen. Two teenagers and a baby. It's like the plot of a movie. Before we know it, it'll be 2025 and I'll be crying into my champagne.
One of their favorite things about August was how modest they were. It reminded Frankie of how easy it was to fall in love with them. When they honestly complimented August's work and even offered to buy some of it, Aug seemed genuinely shocked and while Frankie wanted to get to know them more, nothing was shocking about how quickly everyone was going to learn that August was talented as hell. "I said what I said." They twirled into August's arms and smiled against their kiss. "Maybe so but that's because you're looking at me with Auggie eyes." They smiled again. "I love you in this color. Honestly, colored suits look sooo good on you." They placed their hands on August's chest and then arched a brow when they revealed that Thomas had been intimidating. "My dad?" It made them giggle and shake their head. "No! But honestly, I think he's been dying to do that since he became a dad so you helped him fulfill a dream." Frankie laughed and looked around. "Everyone looks so happy though. Even Kennedy is dancing with Xavier's assistant. Eliza, right?"
August grinned and kissed their wife again. "Auggie eyes? I didn't know I looked at you with special Auggie eyes," they chuckled and glanced down at their suit. "I'm surprised by how much I love this on me. I did try on a yellow suit, but it washed me out. And I've already thanked Xavier for helping me accessorize. It was either ask X or ask Aldrich for help with it. I just wanted to live up to your fashion sense for our very special day," they said and looked at Frankie. "Yeah, your dad! It doesn't suprirse me that he's been dying to do that. And he has to practice it on me, because your sisters are still babies," he laughed. "Oh, yeah. That is X's assistant. I'm glad to see him with life behind his eyes. He seems much happier now."
"Man, you know I'm good for that. I adore you and Frankie. And yeah? Glad to hear he's been behaving, then." Xavier raised a brow as he saw Eliza warming up to the man from a distance. "Hm." His focus went back to August, a smile growing on his face at the mention of Costa Rica. "Oh you're going to love it. Have you ever been? You two are going to come back tanned and happy." He chuckled and laughed some more at August's remark. "You're so welcome but you do that on your own with your swag!" Xavier nodded, happy to hear that they were both still looking for a home. "It's beyond a dream. It's absolutely splendid. You should both be proud."
"You're the best, obviously! We adore you, too. And I'm so glad Winter and Henry seem to be having a good time. They're good kids," they grinned. "Yeah, me too. Frankie deserves to have more family." Though Frankie didn't have as much as they deserved. August wished their mom was around. "I've never been there before, but I'm so excited to see the country, sample so much new food, and take a million photos. Coming back tan and happy will be natural," they chuckled. "I have swag? I can't wait to tell Frankie! We are really happy with how everything turned out. And everyone seems to be having fun."
"I'm really glad you did," Juniper admitted with a bit of a sheepish smile. "Nova decided to use one to carry her toys in. I offered to put them in the diaper bag but she wants to keep them with her." She glanced over to the table where Atlas and Nova were seated; Nova was munching on food and Atlas was signing to her a reminder not to throw her toys overboard. When she looked back to August, Juni smiled a little more brightly and said, "I think my favorite thing is the color scheme! It's not a common combination of colors but it's soo beautiful and looks amazing on you and Frankie! Congratulations again to you two by the way!"
“Well, I’m glad they’re being put to good use. Maybe I’ll move them to the dessert table to encourage people to take home cookies.” August knew that if they ended up back home, they would eat far too many of them. “Your kids are so damn cute,” they mentioned, grinning. “We wanted colors to mimic the sunrise and the water. Plus, bright colors bring joy. I didn’t know how good I would feel in this color until I put it on though! And thank you so much. Everyone knows we’ve already been married, but this feels even more official now.”
"It was a great idea, having that preparedness," Celeste smiled and then laughed a but with August. "Trust me, it was a great contribution. People like to have good food at wedding, whether it just finger food, full-on meals or just desserts." She placed a hand on her hips and said, "I've loved all of it, from seeing you and Frankie in all your wedding gorgeousness to the food to just enjoying the way everybody showed out for you two."
“I’m just aware that people may get sea sick. It’s not a big enough ship to avoid the feeling completely,” they shrugged. “Right? I went to one wedding for a friend from high school. The food was so bad that I had to stop by McDonald’s on the way home. That’s why I was so insistent we find a good caterer!” They felt so lucky to have Celeste in their life. “Thank you. A lot of this is possible because of you. It means so much to have yours and Thomas’ support.”
"Good job, mate. I'm sure a lot of people will be very happy you did that." He placed a hand on August's shoulder. "Doing ok? Feeling alright? I saw Kennedy and wanted to make sure. Frankie tells me you guys decided on Costa Rica for the honeymoon. So I'm going to have to say the theme is my favorite part. Everything else is still amazing though." Xavier plucked an envelope for August and Frankie and handed it to him. "Happy wedding day. Is everything you both dreamed of?"
"Thank you so much," August grinned. "For everything, really. Having you stand up there with me meant the world to me, man. I'm genuinely feeling amazing. We invited Kennedy because he's actually been good. Like... clean. It's so nice to see him like this. We have everything all booked for Costa Rica! I can't wait to just be on a beach for days and days," they laughed. "We've also got some excursions planned. I'm glad you like the theme. It's what we first bonded over, so it was just perfect. And thank you for helping me zhuzh up my suit. I feel like a million bucks." August gave their friend a knowing look when they were handed the envelope. "Whatever is in here will go toward our house fund, so thank you. This day has been everything we dreamed of and more."
Frankie stood beside Auggie as they spoke to one of their guests. They clung to their spouse tightly with a glass of seltzer in their hand. Frankie was beaming as they greeted guests and Aug was so proud about the sick bags that it made Frankie glad to hear them fawn about them. "Aug is super resourceful like that. Also, incredibly modest. The color scheme was also suggested by them." Frankie smiled widely when the guest answered that the theme was their favorite thing so far, adding that they had both come up with that. Their guest left to find their place cards and Frankie turned to face their partner. "You're adorable. You really know how to work a room, by the way!"
August smiled at the praise from Frankie and kissed them softly when their guest walked away. “Thank you, babe. I’ve learned from the best, obviously!” They grinned and kissed them again. “You are so beautiful. Not just today. Always. But this dress and everything… you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever known. I’m so glad we got to get married again in front of everyone who matters to us. I don’t think I told you yet, but your dad scared me a bit earlier. He definitely laid the Intimidating Hockey Dad bit on thick. Did he tell you he was going to do that? Or just your mom?"
"I am the one who insisted on the... sick bags. I'm just really glad this pile appears to be undisturbed. I wouldn't want anyone feeling ill because of our wedding, especially with all the amazing food. I'm still in awe at everything. I admittedly only gave real input about the food," August laughed. "What's been your favorite thing so far? It doesn't have to be the food, by the way."
A Healthy Fear of God
Who: Thomas and August ( mentions @frankieking and @penned-cbarbosa )
What: Thomas tries to make August poop their pants just a little before the wedding.
When: June 1, 2024
Thomas wanted to put a healthy fear of God into August. Not because he didn't like them, but because he didn't have a chance to do so before they married Frankie the first time around. Simply put, Thomas actually looked forward to being a little mean to August as payback for eloping. He knocked on the door of the suite they were getting ready in. "Happy wedding day," he grinned. "Can we talk?"
August had their tie loose around their neck and their suit jacket was still hanging up when Thomas walked in. "Thank you. Of course we can." They turned around to look their father-in-law in the eye, rather than through the mirror.
"First of all, how are you feeling about all this?"
"Honestly, more nervous than someone whose been happily married for more than a year should be." They saw Thomas' eyebrow quirk. "No, no! I don't have cold feet or anything! They're obviously toasty warm, and I love Frankie more than anyone on this planet. I am just nervous because a wedding is a huge thing. It's a lot more eyes on us than the first time around. I also wrote my own vows this time."
"I was going to say!" Thomas laughed. Healthy fear. "Well, this is what your wedding should have been from the beginning."
August pressed their lips together and nodded. "I know. I'm still sorry for what we did and how we hurt people. Thank you for forgiving us. We're also both extremely grateful for the wedding you and Celeste have given us today. The evening isn't even over yet, but it's all incredible."
"I appreciate the apology." Thomas still felt hurt that he didn't get to walk Frankie down the aisle the first time, but this time would make up for it. "We wanted to make sure Frankie had the wedding of their dreams. They deserve nothing less than the best."
August nodded. "Absolutely right. They do. Even though our first wedding wasn't like this, I've been determined since the day we met to give Frankie everything. I will continue to support them in every endeavor. We're on the same page about Frankie deserving the moon if that's what they want."
"That's right," Thomas grinned. Even though he wanted August to be a little scared of him, he genuinely did like his child's husband. "And if you ever hurt them, I'll kick your ass. I may be getting older, but I still know how to throw a punch," he said referring to his hockey days, though he didn't drop the gloves many times in his career.
Their eyes must have gone wide because Thomas let out a hearty laugh. "Oh, believe me, sir, I don't want that to happen. The getting punched part, or letting Frankie down. That would honestly wreck me. I just want them to have the best life possible, and I'm just really fucking happy to be part of it."
"I'm halfway fucking with you, kid. You treat Frankie better than I could have hoped in a partner for them. I see the way they look at you and talk about you. Every parent just wants their kid to be happy and find love. Frankie has found both of those things with you. Just keep it up and continue loving them unconditionally and we'll be good," Thomas said and gave August a hug. "I'm glad you're part of the family. I'll let you finish getting ready. I should probably find Celeste, Sasha, and Shay."
August thanked Thomas again and tried not to cry when his father-in-law left. Despite the mild threat, they felt accepted. It's one of the things they feared most about being queer and being in a queer relationship. Between Frankie's family and their own, they felt nothing but love.
