"...I want an APILAS."
POV: You're a random on-foot combatant staring up at Sparrow
"...It always comes down to the infantryman, and his rifle."
Four dolls, all identical in their dark clothes, dark hair, and pale emotionless faces stare at her. The first tilts her head, pupils tightening and dilating as they examine the fellow doll.
āA possible addition?ā The first says.
āTo fatherās farm.ā The second mentions.
āShe can work in the refinery.ā The third adds.
āNo. Processing. She lacks necessary protections for collapse radiation.ā The fourth finishes. The look at each other in unison before returning their eyes to her.
āOn the behalf of our father-ā
āAnd Ainsworth Agriculture and Industry-ā
āWe would like to extend a formal invitation-ā
āTo be part of something greater. Do you accept?ā
Propositions like these weren't uncommon for an independent doll like herself out in the boonies of the Yellow zone. And frankly...it's never a bad gig. Income, protection, access to spare parts...all the things a doll could ever want to continue functioning until her expiration date. Sure, there is the relinquishment of her autonomy, but what good would that do her powering down in a ditch several miles from civilization. No, she would need to be mad to turn down such an offer.
Surely, she wouā
"No. Now leave me alone. I'm trying to get some rest..."
Words of rejection bounced around the sheet metal that feigns a wall for this ramshackle bar. Anticipating another round of feverish persuasion from the quadruplets, Browning flicked the brim of her cap to properly lock gaze with the strangers. Dulled drab greeted all of them with scorn, subtly reminding them of her answer with every second their gazes locked.
She wouldn't be having any of it and no amount of silver tongue smooth speaking would make her budge on the issue.
And you can't blame her for such a heavy handed approach. Not out here in these law-less god-forsaken lands, where grifts flowed in equal parts with the movements of men. One man's business proposition can be another man's highway robbery. That's barring the fact that crimes against dolls take a significant rise out here in the boonies. It'd be suicide to take any job she couldn't verify the validity of on her own accords.
None of this even tackles the greatest issue she has against these offers: She didn't want to lose her independent status...not after all the sacrifice done to make it given. Sure, she wasn't there when it was originally given, she couldn't show her appreciation....or tell them farewell...but to throw away the last gift from someone so virtuous for meaningless material gain? Even if it was real? It'd be downright dishonorable.
She would never be able to look herself straight in the mirror...more so than she already could.
"Hi. How's it been? Me? Oh, I'm not dead...at least not yet."
"If you've been wondering where I've been, well, you shouldn't. But if you have to know..."
"Been trying to learn more about this "Gensokyo" place I've been hearing about as of late. I know multi-dimensional traveling isn't conductive to a destination, per say, but I wanted to stay a little proactive. Learn a location before you're thrust into it. So, I decided to ask around. What should I look up to get to know this location."
"The response was...mixed. Lots of talk about playing some game or another...Embodiment of whachamacallit...Hidden something or another...I figured there would be texts about this place but it seems all the records are found in interactive media instead. Might take a while. Still, someone recommended me to try out this game first since it 'fit my vibe'...whatever that's suppose to mean..."
"I'll get back to once I'm done. Over and out."
"British Cold War tanks are one thing. Have you seen their nuclear program? It's pure madness, I swear! What do you mean the safety for your nuclear warhead are thousands of small ball bearings!? I'm surprised they didn't nuke themselves early in the cold war with bomb designs like that..."
" ...Let's LARP, Miss BAR. "
"I'm going to kill you once I get out of this chair."
"ā« Do you think we'd be a fit together Me and you, we'd sit And play forever You'd be the builder and I'd be the fighter I'd mine for hours and you'd stoke the fire Fish in the rain let's go indoors Two beds together will keep us warm~ ā«"
"ā« I know that you don't want me I'm just your Minecraft buddy And if I keep digging blindly You might just say you want me ā«"
"ā« I know I might be wrong but This feeling has gone on for too long Do you like me the same Or do you just like leading me astray ā«"
||: How your GF looks at you when you explain that weāve entered the age of autonomous multi-domain offensive military operations carried out by combined arms formations of man-killing robots.
āOh my god donāt be so dramtick!ā
"...I'm leaving now..."
Was recently introduced to Tick Milk. Still wants to puke thinking about itā¦
"...seems like I can't bring up tick milk without a human getting all queasy on me..."
šfor Nikke!
Send meĀ āš + (fandom)ā and Iāll reply with a character I would RP from that fandom
||: I'll be the first to admit that I actually have very little Nikke experience. Never called to me much like GFL did...and my phone at the time couldn't exactly handle playing it either so there was that little problem. Thus, I might not give you the best answer possible...buuuuuuuuuuut
||: iDoll Ocean
Send meĀ āš + (fandom)ā and Iāll reply with a character I would RP from that fandom
On a personal note: my friends, this doesnāt mean I will RP any of these characters.
Probably.
"Maybe it's by the power of collapse fluid, ever thought of that?"
"It'd probably be half a percent if they didn't compulsively spend every sent they got on plastic statues and digital lotteries..."
@abyssslayer replied:
not bad honestly. thinking about lever actions tho just reminded me of the volcanic handgun specifically which was such a really interesting idea for a semi-auto handgun early on
||: Thats fair, though I don't think the Volcanic would be considered a semi-auto since you have to actively lever it to fire another bullet. Semantics aside, I think something interesting about the pistol was it's ammunition, mainly being that it was one of the earliest metal cartridge munitions built at the time. This was probably why they miniaturized it into a pistol.
||: although, I'm not fond of the tubular magazine with the ammunition. If you know about tube feeding mechanisms, you will get why.
Someone: What's GFL like?
Me:

||: Late on the party for this one but Happy 250 years to the Aerospace Republic and lets hope for another 50 more. Hope to one day see the nation's tricentennial for myself...and hopefully not celebrate it from within a hermetically sealed bunker deep underground. Nor a buggy mess of a game with some god awful net-code.
