Hi! I am very interested in submitting for Silver Scale zine, but I wanted to as, some questions before I begin working (I am an artist):

Do you have any specific page dimensions or color profiles I should look out for?

The zine's page size is US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches) and is currently digital-only.

We don't have any restrictions on color, though if you are submitting something meant for at-home printing (ex. miniature standees), we definitely recommend that you have a limited-color or black & white version to be included as a supplemental file.

Images with a transparent background are preferred for ease of use around text and other page elements.

ANGELSLAYER is a little experimental zine I made in 2024 with my own writing and collage.

It came from a place of suffering (like a lot of my zines do), this time about the internal battle of coming to terms with being the villain in other people’s stories, and even finding a bit of power and acceptance in that. 🕊️

It is essentially two single page mini zine sheets bound together with black ribbon to make a book made of two sheets of paper!

Act Your Age: Fandom at 35+ and Beyond: Volume 3 - Generations

For Act Your Age Volume 3, we’re diving into the theme of "Generations". We're looking for stories, art, and creative work that explore how fandom connects across age, time, and family lines.

Are you a second- or third-generation fan in your family?

Maybe your love of a band, show, book, or game was inherited from a parent or grandparent—or maybe you’re the one who passed it on to your child, your sibling, your nibling, or even your neighbor.

 Do you participate in fan activities that bring together people of different ages? 

Have you found meaning in how fandom acts as a bridge between generations, cultures, or communities?

We’re accepting essays, stories, visual art, comics, poetry, and other creative work that fits the theme. Both personal reflections and imaginative takes are welcome. 

Microsoft Word, Google Drive links and png artwork is accepted. If your work is selected for publication, you’ll receive two copies of the zine as a thank-you.

Deadline is October 24, 2025.

Support global fiction and African voices– support the African Translation Project!

We are raising funds to pay human translators in Africa to translate books from non-colonial African languages into English!   

You can donate towards that effort, including by buying things from the ko-fi shop, and all the money gets to the African press who’s going to publish the book. https://ko-fi.com/africantranslationproject Financial donations would really help, but so would zines, one-page TTRPGs, and other goodies for the shop! It works exactly like participating to a charity bundle on itch!

Whatever inspires you of micro/mini/flash length: an IRL story, fiction story, poem, game, recipe, photo, doodle, song, review, your thoughts, an affirmation. This is a concrete and efficient way to act in favor of global fiction and African voices!
