you ever think about how langdon is a snarky, sarcastic, intense asshole with just about everyone at the pitt, looking dark and annoyed and furrowing his brows all the time, and then he becomes this soft, gentle prince of sunshine the moment he talks to mel??? like lowering his voice, looking directly at her and listening for social cues, widening his eyes and folding his arms so he looks less aggressive and/or to match her calm demeanor, withholding himself from touching her when she’s upset because he knows it could be overwhelming, and also changing the way he would normally word things/not being cynical so he can communicate with her better and learn her special language of what she needs and likes????

Freshly-minted Attending Physician Dr. Frank Langdon, who has watched his mentor sleep his way through half the hospital staff over the years, who has seen how messy things get, especially when it’s an attending/resident situation.

Frank who is actually pretty sure that he’s stupidly in love with his best friend, but who doesn’t know if she feels the same, who doesn’t know where she’ll go in a year or so, who can’t decide whether or not the potential heartache is something he can handle.

Frank whose heart melts every time she looks at him, who thinks about making a move every day, but then chickens out because he’s meant to guarantee her best possible education, not make heart eyes at her.

Frank who is so caught up in his own head that he doesn’t even realise it’s a date she’s asking him out on because they’ve been spending every waking moment together for the past two years.

Frank who finally can’t take it anymore because her hair is down and her eyes are shining and they’ve been laughing for hours and now they’re at her door and she has her hands behind her back like she’s scared she’ll grab him if she’s not careful,… and so he finally gives in and kisses her like he’s been wanting to all year.

Frank who stays the night and just kind of never leaves after that.
