Trigger Warnings: Addiction, mental Health, Body Image
Aurora Jackson made her entry into the world on March 30, 1997. She was born to a family of what was now three children, with two older brothers. One being River, would go on to become the family’s cash cow, though their father also pushed Aurora into the spotlight too. She was a child model, one who was photographed for various fashion and clothing catalogs, something she was pushed into doing until she was a teenager. Hating the spotlight and modeling, Rory started rebelling as a teen, staying out later, crashing on friends’ couches, and even eating less and less. She had heard what happened to her brother River, falling into deep patterns of addiction, whether true or not, by their father. And she promised herself, it wouldn’t happen to her. So she internalized it, becoming more and more of a perfectionist, making sure everything worked out just right.
Then when she turned eighteen, she moved out, once and for all. She went off to college, getting her degree in journalism and working for some news companies back in Los Angeles. She fell in love with work, though at the same time she kept falling for the wrong man. Usually these men were business types, whether someone she worked with, worked for, or worked against. Something about a man in power was what she craved. All the while she was still in contact with her father, always needing his constant approval. He kept feeding her lie upon lie about her brother and the rest of the family.
After finding out what he had been up to, and leaving her mother for another woman, Rory decided to look into some things on her own. To finally break free; or at least try to. This meant looking for her brother, River, where-ever he may be. After finding out about him moving to Oregon, and finding out they had family there, she made the trip, cross country to see for herself if what her father had said were true.
Now that she’s in Kismet Harbor, she’s navigating life with her brother that she hasn’t seen or heard from in over 15 years, plus navigating life with her new-found uncles (and cousins), a family she never knew she had. Learning about the truth from her brother himself, as well as learning about her family is something she’s looking forward to this year. Plus, who knows who else she might meet in town?
Extra musings:
She loves anything to do with the stars and the sky
She loves to dance in the rain
She can sing and was pushed into child pageants because of this (by her father)
She’s a perfectionist, something that she became due to her father and her modeling days
She’s afraid of heights and spiders
Doesn’t know if she has ever been in love
She desperately wants her father’s approval (though she’s learning to break free from this)
Brody smiled at her and rubbed her skin. "Aurora Blake, if I ever started questioning how much you love me, there is something wrong with me, okay?" He said and looked into her eyes. "Look at what we have. We have this house, we have rings on our finger, we have a baby. I know more than well how much you love me and I know that we both have a lot going on right now with that baby, our dog, and me with a new business so not having dinners like this is warranted. I don't care if we're eating from a bag, I know how much you love me. I will always know. And I hope you know how much I love you." @auroraxblake
As he rubbed her skin, she weakly smiled. Trying to not let the postpartum hormones take over. But as he spoke and told her how much he loved her and their life, the tears started flowing. She nodded and sniffles, finding a napkin that hadn't blown away, to wipe her nose. "I love you and our life so much," she got up, still holding his hand and went over to him, sitting on his lap. "You are the absolute most amazing man I have ever met and I am so lucky I get to call you my husband and baby daddy," sniffling one last time, she swallowed down the emotions and felt better after the little cry. "I pinch myself every morning that I get to be loved by you," she smiled and looked up just as the rain started to pour down upon them. @brodyblake
There were times when their job was a bit chaotic, more than people would realize and she'd seen Aurora handle that. Logan by her side. And now, she was getting to see her friend in a different light. "I think people tend to think that for a while. Whenever something brings awe, it takes so long to realize that it's real, that it's here sort of." She smiled down at the newborn. "I mean just think, one of these days she's going to be talking back and borrowing your clothes and you still will probably think wow that's my kid." @auroraxblake
Rory couldn't help but smile, everything about motherhood had been everything she dreamed of and more. Though it was still so so new, heck Nellie wasn't even a few months old, she loved every moment of it. "Exactly, and once she starts to see the world and understand it, I'm sure it'll be a whole new ball game too." Getting to see someone understand things fir the first time, that light bulb moment go off in someone's head was so exciting. "Slow down Walker, I don't even wanna think about her walking and talking," she let out a soft laugh, "but you're right. Honestly I'm just so lucky. But enough about me and motherhood. You're gonna be a bride soon and I'm so excited for you and Matt." @loganxwalker
He nodded. "He had, which is great. We just gotta get him trained to let us know he needs out so we can get rid of the pads." Brody said as he looked down at the little dog. Brody knew they would get there soon, but he couldn't wait. He took a bite of their dinner. "We'll be okay. Don't worry." He said, just as the wind picked up and he moved to help her with the food and stuff. "It is a nice dinner." He stopped and took her hand before touching her cheek. "This is a great dinner. I think we just need to watch the forecast more." He smiled and pressed a kiss to her lips. @auroraxblake
"Definitely, and he's smart or at least seems like it so far," she lifted a shoulder as she looked at Bear as he cowered under the table. "Smart but afraid of thunder which is okay," she leaned down a hand to pet the beagle and to calm him down shushing as she did. Nodding, she tried to smile, her hormones still but over the place and things easily set her off. As she gathered the plates and everything, she niffled and nodded again at Brody. "I just wanted to show you how much I love you," she wanted to show her appreciation for him by making him a home cooked meal instead of just microwaving something quickly. @brodyblake
At her request, Anthony followed her. He took careful steps, not wanting to jostle the newborn in his arms too much as he walked to the kitchen. His chuckle was softened with her words and he shook his head. "I'm certainly not a young man." That much he knew, he could feel it in his bones more often than not. "She does." His gaze shifted, dropping down to his niece which brought another smile to his lips. While children didn't seem to be in his future anymore, he was grateful for the time that he could spend with his nieces at the moment and grateful that he would get to see them grow up. "I'm glad that she is, though." Even if it was a fluke for the day, it made him warm inside. @auroraxblake
As she readied everything, she paused to look at her daughter in her uncle's arms. She looked so peaceful and comfortable and it made Rory smile. "Age is just a number," she chuckled softly, turning around to tdst the temperature of the milk upon her arm. She had never imagined being married and having a child when she had moved from LA to Kismet but she was so glad her life turned out the way it did. And having two amazing brother-in-laws helped in town made it so much easier. As she outed the warm milk from the baggy to the bottle, she made sure to wipe any spills before putting the top on and handing it to Anthony. "She really does, and I've always thought that babies know. Like dogs do. Of who is good and pure." @anthonyxblake
The town sounded too loud today. The traffic moving on the street he walked next to, the conversations of strangers starting into an early morning. With his sweater's hood up, despite the warming weather, and a cigarette plucked between chapped lips, he kept his eyes on the pavement, damp with morning dew. He was supposed to return to work tonight, ran out of excuses to stay absent from a place he knew would pull him under in no time. Ran out of motives, though he felt as though people had stopped asking questions the moment he stopped answering his phone. Pulling his pack of cigarettes from his pocket, he counted the last two remaining, before stuffing it back. He had been smoking a lot more lately, but who could blame him, really? Just as his hand placed the pack in the depths of his pocket, he stumbled, avoiding a frontal collision with a passerby by a miracle. "Jesus," Sam exclaimed, his cigarette falling from his lips to the ground. He looked up and saw her. Blinking, as though trying to wash away her image, the image of a stroller she held onto, the image of someone as tired as they were blissful, Sam knew he could not do this today. For a second too long, he stood frozen in place, before reacting. "Hey." He spoke dryly, his voice weaker and flatter than he wanted it to be. "She's here already." It felt like yesterday, that they had bumped into each other and he felt sick.
The warmth of the sun penetrated throughout the home shared by Rory and Brody by the lake. The natural sunlight filling every corner of the home through the windows that weren't covered by curtains. Now that it was getting warmer out, Rory started taking more walks with Eleanor, getting the much needed vitamin D for both mom and baby. And today, instead of being by Lake Eldred, Rory walked downtown, the bustling of Kismet Harbor filling her ears. Or well, as much as one could considered the bustling sounds since to Rory this was a far cry from the sounds of LA. But nonetheless, Rory wanted Eleanor to be able to experience many different sounds so over the course if her life, she'd get used to them. That she wouldn't need near silence to fall asleep each night or only the sounds of crickets and the occasional owl. Nellie was now three months old, wide eyed and alert and taking everything in while she could when not napping. Soothing herself on a pacifier as Rory pushed the stroller, the infant watched her mother from inside her little cocoon. Rory breathed in the warm air and walked along sidestepoing numerous children before watching two people almost collide. It took her a moment to recognize the other, but she went over as soon as she did. "Hey," she said softly and nodded, looking at her daughter before back up at Sam. "She is. Eleanor, but we call her Nellie." @samxbradford
He grinned as he watched her. "That I do." He said and liked seeing her laugh. He always loved her laugh. From the moment they met, it was something he had loved. "Should start his training while I finish up the porch swing." He smiled at his wife. Brody went to sit back down once Bear was out and then he looked at the sky. "We should hurry and eat." He said and watched the dog. "Probably not." The little dog coward under the table at their feet. "Hopefully Nellie will sleep through it, though." @auroraxblake
She smiled at him, wanting to hide her face again, her husband always making her blush. She didn't mind it one bit, and she had hoped that she never would. "Definitely," she looked over at their pup, "he seems to be picking up the wee wee pad training so far though." House training was the most important aspect in her mind, that way they wouldn't have to worry about accidents in the house and having to clean it up. She took a sip of wine as Brody joined her again, and she looked up at the sky as he did. "Yeah," she nodded and took a bite, before reaching down to calm the dog, "I don't want to get caught out here much longer." She started to say as another clap of thunder and gust of wind, which knocked over her plate, sending food flying. "I hope she sleeps through this," she started to say as the table became a mess and she looked at it and started to cry. "I just wanted to make you a nice dinner." @brodyblake
Logan carefully shifted, settling the young newborn into her arms. There was a part of her that was now afraid to breathe now that she was holding her. "Of course she has Brody in there." She felt like people saw someone else in their baby more than themselves all the time. "One day they look like one person and the next they might as well have swapped faces, huh?" Logan teased, giving Aurora a warm smile. "But, seriously, she's beautiful." @auroraxblake
Rory stayed close by, her hand almost cradling her daughter's head. It was a habit she had adopted, mainly because she was so nervous that Nellie would break, though newborns were tougher than one would think. "I would hope so," she chuckled softly, "I feel like every day she looks different. But in time she'll look like her own person." She smiled and gazed upon her sleeping daughter, the light of her life now. "Exactly, and I'm just glad I get to see how she'll grow and evolve and such," her hand now at her side instead of Nellie's head. "Thank you, I just still cant believe she's mine." @loganxwalker
He grinned at her. "I like seeing you blush." He told her before nodding. "Not as lucky as I am to have you both." Brody said and laughed as they talked about their dog. "Yet is correct. Maybe I can train him to bring me tools." He joked, but it would be handy if he could. Looking at the dog through the door, he got up and went over to it. "They just love us too much that they want to be with us." He let the dog outside with them and Bear ran towards the yard. Thank god he had it fenced. "Or maybe he just had to go to the bathroom." @auroraxblake
She covered her face with her hands, knowing she was full on blushing at her husband. From behind her hands, "you definitely know how to do so," she giggled before removing them and taking a breath and regaining her composure. She couldn't behling to explain how lucky she and Nellie were with Brody. "I can fully see you doing so, teaching him each tool too," not really knowing if that was even possible but at least it would be funny to imagine. Watching as he got up to open the door, "I mean the feeling is mutual honestly. I love the little guy too." She watched him as he came outside to join them, "maybe. Though those clouds don't look too good." She pointed as a thunder clap filled the gap in her talking, Bear looking up and running back towards them. "At least he's starting to learn but I don't think he likes thunder." @brodyblake
Anthony carefully took the infant into his arms. He couldn't begin to fathom how small they were at this age and how quickly they would grow. "If it makes you more comfortable to do so." Anthony answered her, not wanting to offend. "I'm an old man, this is not my first infant feeding." His tone was light, a softened smile resting against his lips. Perhaps he was perceived inexperience because he didn't have children of his own, but it wasn't the first nor the last baby he would ever hold and feed. "Whatever is more comfortable for you, though." Anthony added, reassuring. @auroraxblake
Rory watched her brother-in-law cradle his niece, he was so gentle and she smiled at the sight of it. Though the baby was so small, she trusted Anthony blindly to hold her and be careful with her; there was no doubt about it in her mind. "Come on," she smiled and gestured for him to follow her into the kitchen, to which Bear decided to follow quickly behind them. "You're not an old man," she scoffed and shook her head as they reached the kitchen, her going over to get the bottle and the breastmilk from the freezer and then a bowl to fill with warm water. "I usually give her either formula or breastmilk, but since we're home this was just easier." She turned to Anthony and smiled, "she looks comfortable in your arms you know." @anthonyxblake
The moment unfolded before her, without pressure. She watched as Aurora interacted with her daughter, a smile being brought to her own lips. It felt like the kind of moment that anyone would stop and take in if they were around. As she was asked to hold her, her eyes widened, lips parting. It wasn't unexpected but her heart rate picked up with excitement. "Of course I do." While Logan hadn't entirely decided if kids were something she wanted to have herself, she absolutely adored them. Logan reached out for the exchange, cradling Aurora's daughter into her arms with a warm smile resting against her lips. Her expression softened as she looked down at her. "She's absolutely perfect." @auroraxblake
Rory was excited to show off her daughter though she still felt awkward holding the baby, always afraid to drop her. But she was feeling better in that part and moved with ease, finally feeling comfortable handing her off to someone else that wasn't Brody or a family member. She smiled as she carefully handed Logan Nellie, the baby bright eyed and curious. Watching as her friend and colleague held her daughter, Rory smiled softly, her heart bursting at the seams at the sight. "Thank you," she beamed, holding the burping cloth in her hands, "I think she looks like Brody though the other day she had hints of my brother's face." @loganxwalker
He smiled as they both thought about their daughter and dog curled up together. It was a cute imagine and he couldn't wait to see it for real in the future. Brody listened to his wife and shook his head a little. "I'm glad you think so, but seeing you with her is the most amazing thing to me. I love just watching you both." He told her with a smile. He probably had hundreds of photos of that already on his phone. Laughing, he shrugged. "I don't know. If Bear can carry my hammer, maybe he should use it as a chew toy." It'd be impressive given that the hammer weighed more than the puppy did at the moment. The thunder made him look up at the sky and he sighed as the wind started blowing. "Maybe we should enclose this a little bit." He said before he heard a bark and looked at the door. "And look who wants out here with us." @auroraxblake
Rory pinched herself every morning, that she got to wake up next to the man before her and they shared the most amazing life. They had a little girl and a cute puppy to raise side by side. She smiled and looked away, knowing her cheeks were bright red at his words, "you truly know how to make a girl blush. I'm so lucky, Nellie and I are so lucky to have you." She truly didn't know what she'd do without Brody. Laughing she nodded, "true. I'm pretty sure that hammer weighs more than he does. For now at least." Not that beagles weighed a lot fully grown but he was still very small. Agreeing with him, she nodded, and kept her hands on the plates and napkins so they wouldn't fly away. "Let's," she started to say before seeing Bear by the door barking, "I'm pretty sure they're already conspiring together and figuring out they both have FOMO and want to be involved with everything." @brodyblake
He looked at her and slid his hand across the table so he could hold hers. "But not busy enough where I couldn't help." He rubbed her hand softly. "It will. I won't be surprised if in five years, we'll be coming out here to find Nellie and Bear curled up in it." He said with a smile. "I'm looking forward to that." Brody loved cuddling with their daughter. He never knew he could feel so at home with Nellie and Rory by his side, but it was truly his favorite place in the world. "He would've been fine." He assured her and squeezed her hands. "Yeah we..." He stopped as the wind blew through the patio and the napkins moved. He got up to grab the napkins as well and once they were settled, he put his drink on top of them. Looking up at the clouds, his eyes moved back to his wife. "Should be okay for a bit. We'll have enough time to finish dinner." @auroraxblake
There wasn't a single thing that Rory didn't love about Brody before she married him. It now, being so hands on and so helpful since having a baby, it made her love him even more. "I know," and she had always been independent, she was learning how to lean on others, lean on her husband. "Oh no doubt, I can see them both now curled up with one another," not just on the swing but in general and it made her smile. "Seeing you with her is the most amazing thing in the world you know. She fits so perfectly on your chest," she was in awe of how easy he made it look, how comfortable their daughter was in her father's arms. "I could see him chewing on everything though," she chuckled, "stealing your hammer thinking it's a toy..." she had started to say as the wind whipped up and she started to grab things. Her own eyes going up the clouds, as a rumble of thunder was heard in the distance. "What is it with us and storms?" She asked, almost letting out a nervous chuckle just as another gust of wind blew by. @brodyblake
