RANT TIME

Ugh I have this weird feeling about Six of Crows because on one hand, yes, no one needs to help Kaz heal. They have no obligation to do anything for him.

On the other hand, Kaz had no obligation to buy Inej’s indenture, or hire Jesper, or protect Wylan. (He had specific reasons for Matthias and Nina). Like, yeah, they don’t owe Kaz anything, but they’d all be dead without him.

So when people are like “oh he’s gotta help himself help”, yes, he does, but also they’re absolutely allowed to help him and understand how truly hurt he is?

People help their loved ones heal. No one heals by being left alone, and that’s what happens to Kaz at the end of the duology. He’s alone.

You’re telling me that people really think that Inej “I believe in the Saints and I will be sending every bitch who harms an innocent or one of my friends directly to them 💜” Ghafa and Matthias “I just broke out of a hate group but now I’m ride or die for these criminals” Helvar are the normal ones???

Absolutely NOT.

Not only does Matthias have the greatest arc of all history from “you are all horrible” to “those all seem like practical options” but this man is constantly ready to stand by this pack of criminals and no-goods no matter what they do. Matthias is the guy who will not only bail you out of jail with no questions but he WILL be sitting in that cell with you after pleading guilty with the cops because he doesn’t want you going to jail alone. He’s also the man who tries to rehabilitate every rabid dog he finds. He’s standing there telling you it’s okay while a dog is trying to chew his arm off.

Inej Ghafa?? That’s a girlie who breaks into houses and carves men up to right some wrongs and help those she loves. She’s religious but she is also the one who knows the quickest way to kill a man. If she was in the modern world she would be making Instagram videos from the top of the Empire State and who could stop her??

These two would be having shopping cart races in the empty parking lot of the supermarket at 2AM. These two offer advice but also take matters into their own hands for intimidation purposes.
