Woooo first show of the year (only took half the year)!!! Good one as well, nice to catch them for such a big anniversary (20 years!). Athoughtment:
Been a while since I was at this venue (last time was just before Covid I think?) aaand I did not miss it lol. Though it's one of the better factory halls-turned-music venues™ in Cologne (of which there are a lot). But the staff was lovely, even offered to let people in early to use the toilet, which was a first.
They played such a weird mix of songs, obviously most of the new album (though some of those songs are also like 12 years old lol), but then also a bunch of songs from Love, but not really the more well known stuff? Tbf I'm all for bands playing more unexpected stuff instead of the same singles at every show, so good for them.
Plus it meant I got to see two of my favourite songs of theirs live that I didn't expect at all!! World's Worst Shrink and It's a Mess my beloveds!!! AND they played for almost 2 hours which is solid.
Aside from that basically all of the new(-ish) songs worked really well live, probably TPWMFIP and 4:3 Days were the highlights, Waldo was also very good. I probably would have liked a bit more album diversity in the setlist, especially for such a nostalgia-heavy anniversary tour.
Speaking of nostalgia, Konstantin introduced 33 as a song he wrote for his own 33rd birthday (10 years ago) and then sang the final lines as This year you are 43, but when you cry, you still look 16. I'm. ;_;
I spent. way too much on merch lol. Originally only wanted a tshirt (they had a very funny one that's made up to look like a metal tshirt) but then saw that Konstantin was at the merch booth so I got Amen on vinyl as well for him to sign (which I'd been meaning to get anyway). Also they announced a tour for next year and they're playing Gloria again, so obviously got a ticket for that.
Aaaanyway most of my photos are shit and the sound on my recordings is pretty bad, so I probably won't poast much more from this show (and also it took me like. two weeks to finish this write-up lol), but it was very good! Check out GWS they're criminally underrated!! Start with Amen or Scarlet Beast!!!
