video game violence is mostly meaningless by design since you spend 90% of your time fighting faceless nameless hordes of guys, but there is such a particularly nice meaninglessness to the violence going on in the wolf among us in the way that fables are basically immortal and aren't really capable of causing each other more than temporary harm. you stick an axe inside a guy's head and next evening he's just sitting in a bar like nothing happened. not even a surprise to anyone at that point.

and the violence that happens, it's not even because of something going on right now, but grudges from hundreds of years of ago and the disdain accumulated from living like shit for years and years without any support system to the point where what else is even left to do but lash out at someone you can pretend to be the cause of everything wrong in your stupid life for some five to ten minutes. beautiful
