hello everyone!! i've run across yet another financially difficult month and am going to need some more help making rent. i know we're nearing the end of june, but if 8 people buy a basic doodle every day from now until the 30th, i'll be able to squeeze it. ;w;

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

YOu know it's always really funny when these tech giants (Or whatever you call owning tumblr dot com) get really antsy about laws considering they pick and choose which ones they abide by.

I do typically find myself taking a fairly moderate position with regards to things like transphobic moderation decisions. Not in that I don't think these corporations are often evil, but that the evil is a lot more banal than folks seem to recognize. A company will not usually have a raging transphobe on moderation going out of their way to ban trans women, but trans women are more likely to get reported due to harassment campaigns and general transmisogyny, and those reports are more likely to have action taken on them due to unexamined biases on the part of the moderation. That is, of course, still Very Bad, but its the usual type of bad, not a grand evil conspiracy, but the normal, banal type of evil, that of corporate bureaucracy and internet culture largely endemic to every online platform.

But. Like. At some point, after the CEO of this website admitted that there was, indeed, Tiffany Tumbles the Tumbling TERF taking out hits on trans women, and then going off site to harass a woman that got banned off of his website. After dozens of transfems were banned in the span of minutes, with the stated reason of their ban being "we may ban users for any reason, or no reason at all." Like at some point I stop being able to provide a nuanced and grounded opinion here, right? Like at some point the signs are pointing to "some employee or CEO or someone else in a position of moderation wanted to ban a lot of trans women and thought they could get away with it", yeah? Like. What am I even supposed to say here? I feel like "any reason, or no reason at all" really says more than I ever could. Like come on, at least try to come up with an excuse here

Hi Anne I don’t know if you remember but a while back I had asked you if you knew about the current operations of Gaza Soup Kitchen. I just wanted to report that I got an email from them last week or so saying that they’re still operational in Gaza and have been making hot meals for iftar this Ramadan. They included some photographs in the email, so from what I can tell they are still on the ground providing help!

so. not to doxx myself (i've talked about this here before though) but i live in Kansas. and my license was just revoked very suddenly and immediately because i'm trans and had changed my gender marker.

so now i cannot legally drive or vote until/unless i let them force me to carry around a card that misgenders me and outs me as trans, because i certainly don't look female anymore.

so hey if you have the means and want to help with any of this, please consider donating to the ACLU of Kansas because they are at least going to try to do something to push back against this, and i'm such a panicky wreck that the only thing i can do to get through my immediate gut reaction to having my license revoked tonight (i cannot stress enough that i received the letter today saying that my license is no longer valid tomorrow) is focus on the fact that there's at least one entity trying to protect me and my fellow trans kansans.
