since japanese gp is once again upon us, i'd like to remind everyone that the one life we lost in 2014 has been saving thousands of others ever since and not only thanks to halo.
just because of jules, we have:
yellow flags exchanged for virtual safety car since 2015 which doesn't only rely on drivers slowing down "significantly" and immediately sets up delta lap times on each steering wheel to reduce speed by ~ 40%
system halo (which... if you didn't know a lot of drivers - including names like lewis - hated at the start) which was introduced as mandatory addition in 2018
new helmet design based on the sensors in jules ears that measured 254 G that helped science understand rotatory brain damage (the design used outside of motorsport for cyclists or skiers for example)
recovery vehicles like tractors and cranes are only allowed on track when FIA deems necessary and when all cars are aligned behind a safety car + a fixed crane was installed in turn 7 at Suzuka to avoid the need for a mobile one
improved drainage at multiple circuits to avoid floodings and potential aquaplaning on track
movable start times based on weather conditions and time of the day to avoid racing during cloudy/foggy weather or sunset/sunrise and other potentially unsafe conditions
