not that i would ever write rpf but what if etho was at a bar with some friends and gets introduced to a guy who's new in town, he's a bush pilot or a mechanic and he's got dark eyes and a warm, broad smile and doesn't look a bit like anyone etho already knows or loves, and etho keeps finding himself glancing at this guy, aware of where his body is in relation to his own, and finding the guy glancing back. and he doesn't know what to do but this guy mentions the back yard of his place is overgrown so etho offers to swing by on the weekend with gardening gloves and a roll of trash bags to help out. and gardening turns to a beer in the evening turns to smiling whenever they pass in the street turns to getting drinks turns to cooking dinner turns to the guy walking etho to his truck turns to kissing under etho's porch light turns to sex turns to three months five months eight months deep and etho mentions to bdubs on a late discord call that he's going out for dinner tomorrow and bdubs saying again? and etho bites his lip and says yeah and that's all it takes for bdubs to know, like etho isn't a thousand miles away faceless on the other end of a phonecall, like all it takes is just one word because maybe he loves this guy but he loved bdubs first, bdubs is bag he's always carrying, the torch he'll never ever put down, and bdubs must know it and has probably always known it because even if etho hardly tells bdubs a thing about himself, bdubs still knows the whole of him, the whole inside of him, and in a year or two or three's time when etho's trapping a scrap of paper under his pen with a list for wedding invites, short because they want to keep it low-key, the first name he thinks of after his family is bdubs, and maybe that makes him a fool, but he still writes it down.
