One of the things I really like about clothes is how much of a memory they can be.
The six videos that started posting to my channel on 7/28 were part of something I mentally was calling "Summer Re-Vamp" in my brain. I meant to put it in the branding but it fell by the wayside. I spent the last couple years trying out a few different versions of my style but I lost the heart of what makes me 'me'. I'm known for cowboy boots, patchwork denim jackets- my name was actually inspired by a denim jacket- and being colorful. I went through this masc, dark academia kind of thing and I lost the punk, the Philly, the art. I think it's why I didn't sew much last year. I really didn't.
I got over it, eventually.
So, the "Re-Vamp" was supposed to be about me adding some of the charm I missed from the stuff I used to make back into my life. I've always had patched jackets, which is how I accumulated a lot of these. I've ripped them off and put them back on so many times. Several are from Crash Bang Boom or South Street Art Mart, some are gifts from Megan, some are just places I went when I still lived in Philly - oh, my city, I miss you every day. Those military ones I've had since high school and have actually worn on stage in gigs I was paid for so that's fun. I've had the tote bag since YEARS before I moved back to Maryland, so I had to patch a couple holes in it. The silver skull patch I bought at the very first Punk Rock Flea I ever went to. I just love how many memories things can hold, like you're carrying the people and experiences you love with you all the time. Most of my clothes are like that. They're stories.
The 8/18 video is my mesh pants DIY, so this will likely be the 8/25 video - "Making a Make-Up Bag into an Ita Bag". I'm also sewing a liner that zips shut to put in it, which is what's taking a little longer.
