I cannot stop thinking about Episode 5 of TADC because Ragatha is, however unintentionally, one of the best examples of how isolating and difficult it is to interact with the world as an autistic person I have ever seen. To the point it genuinely makes me sad to think about her. I need to make a post expanding on this at some point but rn just. The way everyone assumes there’s some sinister hidden meaning to everything she does and says but she’s literally just trying to be nice and she doesn’t understand why it’s not working. The way she tries so hard to make connections but it constantly falls flat, she says things that hurt without realising how or why. She follows the rules she’s been taught will make her friends — she’s kind, she’s forgiving, she’s accepting and apologetic when she messes up, but for some reason it’s just not working. She tries to mimic other people, she tries to laugh at past experiences, tries to open up about her past like everyone else is doing, but now everyone’s uncomfortable and looking at her like she’s crazy and she doesn’t get it!! She doesn’t get it!!! Jax is a jerk and he’s mean to everyone but for some reason Pomni likes him and she doesn’t get it, she doesn’t understand! Pomni tells her it’s okay to be a jerk sometimes but Ragatha doesn’t like being mean, she wants to be nice to people, but she does it anyway, she gets mean like Jax and Zooble do but now Pomni’s looking at her like she’s done something wrong but she just did what she asked her to!! She doesn’t get it!! At the end of the episode everyone goes off into their groups and Ragatha is left alone, after having tried so hard to make friends and fit in and make people like her, she’s still alone, and everyone thinks she’s weird and unapproachable and she just has to give up and accept that she is inherently unloveable. Her evil alter ego tells her she’s going to die alone and nobody loves her and the only thing she corrects her on is the fact that they can’t die here. The few that might like her when she’s around don’t miss her when she’s gone, because there’s nothing to miss. Ragatha has spent her whole life systematically stripping away everything that makes her different and unlikeable in order to make herself more palatable to others, and in the process she has made herself a personalitiless blank slate with no unique identity for others to latch onto and appreciate. She has nothing to add to any conversation because she’s too afraid of being disliked to have a memorable personality beyond being generally polite and nice. And just. God. Someone get this girl some noise cancelling headphones and a therapist on speed dial, being this good of a representation of what it’s like to be autistic, especially to be an autistic person with trauma, is not good for the soul. That final shot just destroys me right in the heart. My poor girl.

Drew my oc seebi in @sm-baby carnival!tadc au lmao
I keep seeing posts about it on my dash and like the urge got to me. Seebi I'd like to think is a bonus boss. Like their door is juuussst around the corner but you really gotta look for it to actually find it. Their domain consist of a stary sky with platforms where you have to chase seebi down. The game gets trickier the closer you get to them. By the end you recieve a little reward from seebi. Probably a prediction or something but yeah.
Found this while doing some digital spring cleaning: an abandoned animation idea for Treasure Planet’s 20th birthday! I ended up going with a much simpler animation because I just didn’t have the time, but I’m surprised to find that I still like these bones!
The Wicked Witch of the West is Dead and Look to the Western Sky by Denver Balbaboco
Glinda, The Good Witch of the North (Ariana Grande), descends and joins in the jubilation of the people of Oz, celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the West, vanquished by the child from Kansas.
Meanwhile Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of the West (Cynthia Erivo), ascends in power and rises against the Wizard. By her side, she is joined in the western skies by her winged army, all of whom have sworn fealty to their new Mistress.
my ship thats so canon they advertise it in times square
Why, Miss Elphaba, look at you. You're beautiful!
You of course understand that most such abstentions are in states where the outcome is already determined. What would a democratic vote in Pittsburgh do for your presidential votescolding?
Ohio used to be a swing state! Florida used to be a swing state! You don't get to sit this shit out when vindictive white baby boomers are the most consistently reliable voting demographic! That's how people end up with Ted Fucking Cruz and a gerrymandered state legislature outlawing abortion and transgender health care!
Also, let's say you're right, and there is genuinely no chance to flip your district from red to blue. It is still important to vote. Because if the Republicans know your district is absolutely safe, they don't have to spend any money to keep their guy in office, they can spend the money on the place where their guy is in danger.
If your district has a rise in the number of people voting Democrat, all of a sudden your district isn't looking that safe any longer. And they have to spend money there on ads and shit to make sure it stays safe. And that's money they're not spending in swing districts. That makes it easier for Democrats elsewhere to get elected.
Also, local offices are on the ballot. And local offices need a lot fewer votes to win an election than national offices.
If you have, for example, two judge positions and one of them is "tough on crime" and one of them talks about "wanting to make sure that all people get justice regardless of race or gender or any other factor" it will make a big difference to your community which one of them gets elected.
If you have two candidates for school board and one is advocating for book bans and the other one isn't, it will make a big difference to your community which one of them gets elected.
Isn't Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania which is a swing state? Doesn't turning a state from firmly Democratic to firmly swing require one or both of more Republican and fewer Democratic voters?
Yes, Ohio was a swing state. Not even that long ago, seriously. Eight years.
Kansas used to be Bright Fucking Red. Now it's trending toward maroon. We have a democrat governor. Wichita KS elected an openly trans councilwoman. We kept abortion safe and legal here. Because we fucking showed up at the polls. Sure, our piddly little two electoral votes don't "matter" in the presidential election, but that other shit? That Fucking Matters. We have more work to do, for sure, but showing up and voting is the first step.
This is a map of party affiliation - people who identify as Republican or Democrat. It is not likely voters or registered voters, it is a map of political belief in the US.
[Data Source: Pew Research.]
Pennsylvania is considered a swing state, but it breaks 46/39 in favor of Democrats. Louisiana breaks 43/41 for Democrats. Why isn't it a swing state? Texas? 40/39 for Democrats. West Virginia Missouri, Ohio, and Mississsippi are all within 2 points.
Here is the electoral map.
I need you to recognize that Republicans only have a firm hold (greater than a 5 point margin) in a handful of states. Even if every one of the other states went Republican, they would not win.
When Democrats vote, we win. It's that simple. It's why Republicans are spending so much god damn time trying to keep you from voting.
(Note: Independents were not counted although they generally do "lean" one way or the other. As of 2023 they are a roughly even split. I did not have the time nor inclination to try to factor this in state by state, but would welcome someone else doing so.)
Honestly? Ohio is still basically a swing state! We have one Democratic senator and it’s gonna be tight but we might get to keep him! We fucking enshrined abortion in our constitution despite a state law banning it - which required TWO elections in a row to do, because the Rs tried to change the amendment process three months before the vote so we had to vote THAT down first then come back and vote for the abortion amendment!
And if we can show the fuck up this year, we can not only keep Sherrod Brown, we can end the gerrymandering that’s caused our current districts to get shot down by the state Supreme Court seven fucking times. But because of the current method of drawing districts, that doesn’t matter, the Rs can keep submitting new bad maps and they get used because there’s not a good one to choose from.
Oh, and guess why the state Supreme Court is even willing to do that? Because we’ve managed to move from an all-Republican Supreme Court to one that they barely hold, 4-3, so all we need is for one of them to not be entirely awful.
Also CANNOT BELIEVE that person used Pittsburgh as an example when just four years ago we were all on the edge of our seats waiting to see which way PA would go - because it went to Trump in 2016!
Do none of you even know that Florida was considered a swing state not very long ago? See how blue it is on those maps? Yeah. Florida went for Obama. In 2000, Florida was the reason the election had to go to SCOTUS. Republicans spent a LOT of money convincing all those registered Democrats that Florida was a Republican safe haven. And now it is. But we ALSO have abortion on the ballot, despite our butthead of a governor recently getting slapped down by a federal judge for threatening local stations about ads in favor of the amendment. He got the Heritage Foundation to write an “economic impact” statement on the damn ballot about the future lawsuits it would create, but the amendment has a lot of support. It will get a lot of those Dems out to vote, if we stop telling people that their vote doesn’t matter because they’re in a solidly red state!
