Hi there, I just wanted to tell you that you’re one of the few people that I see talking about Sarah Kazansky as Ice’s wife, and I love it.

I'm glad you love it, and she genuinely deserves more love. Jean Louisa Kelly did an incredible job despite limited screentime.

Honestly, the people trying to push that Sarah's anything but his wife gives me a headache. That reach detracts from the full, balanced life the film was clearly portraying Ice having lived. His life is a stark contrast to Maverick's ("No wife, no kids, nobody to mourn you when you burn in..."), and he's at a point where he's at peace with his fate no matter how tragic it is.

Ice has truly achieved everything. Career success. He has a family. He's built a strong support system and lived a life outside of the Navy. He has Sarah. They've clearly had kids. There are young children--presumably grandchildren--out playing in the yard of their home.

He has an incredible house with a big office depicting his life's accomplishments. A loving, devoted wife who's sticking with him through the end. A home that still has happiness and laughter despite the direction things have taken. I'd argue that Mav's hangar is extremely cool, but in comparison, it's also very empty--that, of course, deliberately changes in the end as he goes through his character development and we later see Rooster, Amelia, and Penny all there with him.

Mav and Sarah clearly love each other as well, and while it's a very different dynamic than he had with Carole, the reason behind that is equally clear.

Ice is also wearing a wedding ring when he's re-introduced as the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

It really doesn't take Mensa-level intelligence to put these pieces together.

Fangirls have been erasing/downplaying the role and importance of wives and girlfriends forever. It's not new, but it's as unfortunate as ever. It reminds me why we used to have reading comprehension tests in school.

Notice the older generation didn't miss a single one of those details.
