FICS ARE DUE!

hi friends! today is 4/3, aka our fic due date!

please don’t panic if you aren’t done yet; the collection isn’t going to go live until sunday, april 7th, at around 7pm eastern time!

if you’re close to being done, or you just need a beta, but you think you’ll make the 7th, great! feel free to post anytime before then and your fic will be included in the big challenge reveal.

we won’t be holding back the challenge reveal for any stragglers or extending past that time, but if you’re still working on your fic you can post whenever, it’s not a big deal. just be aware that to post with the complete challenge, you’ll need to make that deadline.

thanks everyone, and happy posting! we can’t wait to read all the great fic you guys have produced.

SIGNUPS ARE NOW CLOSED

we’ve posted a claims order in the discord, and so claims will start at 11 am EST tomorrow!

as we mentioned previously, anyone who has signed up but isn’t in the discord will be able to claim after we’ve run through the random claims order. right now that’s bageldiscourse and love_stella on AO3; we’ll post here when it’s your turn! please reach out to us directly here if you have any questions.

all told, there are 141 prompts from 40 signups this year; record turnout! we’re going to have a lot of fun.

you have until FRIDAY FEBRUARY 1ST to add prompts or sign up! technically, you have until midnight EST on thursday night to get your prompts in!

just another reminder to read through how does this challenge work? before you sign up and add prompts; it stresses an important note, which is that adding a prompt is a commitment to write another prompt! please keep that in mind when debating whether or not to sign up.

we smashing ? update

so we launched like four days ago and already have 78 prompts and 28 signups! that’s incredible! at the rate we’re going, we’ll likely smash last time’s prompt count, which means there will plenty of ideas to choose from!

keep it going! we want to see more new writers, more new ideas, more pairings!! the more the merrier.

if you’ve signed up on AO3 but have yet to join the discord, PLEASE JOIN US! not only is it a blast, it’s going to be really helpful for the claims process, which everyone will tell you was loads of fun last time. if you have any questions about discord, or for some reason don’t feel comfortable with it, please reach out to us directly via the askbox and we’ll try to figure something out for you.

Do we have to join the Discord in order to participate?

kind of, if only because it’s the easiest/funnest way to do claims.

you don’t have to actually participate in the discussion if you don’t want to, but joining there and checking in periodically is going to be super helpful in having the most up to date information.

and again, claims are done in the discord and it worked really well last time, so even if you only participate in the discord for claims, that’s totally fine!

hi! nothing concrete just yet; it’s likely that if/when we do another official challenge, it will have a due date around february. however, we might do something smaller in the meantime, so we’ll definitely give a shout here if we do!

Super sad I didn't find out about this until the flood of fics on Ao3, fam! (Although I'm absolutely delighted by the flood of fics, happy hockey season to us!!) I see there's still a bunch of unfilled/unclaimed prompts on the Ao3 - are these fair game even though this particular fic challenge has run its course?

we’ve talked amongst ourselves about doing a round two in the near-ish future, just to try and make a dent in the rest of those prompts. so you could totally join for that! we haven’t worked out any details or anything yet, but let me know if you’d be interested and we can get you in the discord to talk it out!

Have you considered making the challenge more of thing like the SidGenoPhotoChallenge? And like post a photo prompt every few weeks or so and set a quick deadline to write a short fic by? I would totally totally participate!!!

ooh, we had not considered that! it’s definitely something to keep in mind, and it’s great that you’d participate!

there’s been talk of doing a round two somewhat soon, just because there are soooo many prompts still left unclaimed in the collection. we’ll probably talk about that once the dust settles on the current flood, but this is definitely a great suggestion to consider! thank you!

hi friends! we’ve had everyone mostly in the discord these past few weeks so this might be a redundant reminder, but just in case: fics are going LIVE on 10/3, at 7 pm EST! make sure to get your fics in now so they can go live with the rest of the collection!

if you feel like you’re not going to have your fic all shiny and ready and beta’d by then, not a huge deal; you can post after the fact and no one will mind! but it’s more fun to do it together, so get to finishing!

i just want to stress how helpful it’ll be to check in at the discord to keep track of who’s already claimed and when they’ve tagged you to claim, or just to let us know you’ll be delayed or need some time. please head over there!
