Avenger of the Dispossessed

ArenaNet recently released the next installment of of the Living Story Flame and Frost and I just wanted to say The Molten Facility is extremely fun. I'm not one to normally get too excited over event content but the entire dungeon entertained me. The trash was varied, the hidden stuff was fun to find, and the boss fights were really engaging and kept you on your toes. Keep up the good work ArenaNet!

Arrow Carts vs Arrow Carts vs Arrow Carts and Tear Attunement

ArenaNet recently gave arrow carts a buff to their damage as well a few more desirable and much needed WXP abilities related to them. I have mixed feelings about this change however as arrow carts seem really powerful now. On one hand I'm all in favor of changing WvWvW to be more about controlling space and hanging on to what you have rather than just constantly recapping things and smashing your enemies head in. On the other hand it feels like arrow carts are required at any skirmish bigger than 5v5 and often times battles seem to be decided by who can get their arrow cart built first. Overall I feel like this was a good step in the right direction for what WvWvW needs to be spiced up.

In other news several classes saw changes this week with warriors receiving some nice buffs, elementalists and thieves receiving some slight nerfs and other classes seeing changes as well. Warriors needed a bit of a buff as they were a bit too the last time changes were made to them and they seem quite in line with other classes now. Thieves freaked out for a few hours then realized the changes were minor and they're still nearly unkillable. Elementalists on the other hand have been ranting and raving about how useless their class is now just because dagger/dagger isn't a faceroll of overpoweredness anymore. Elementalists are still very strong so switch out of tear attunement and get back in there.

A lot has changed this week from arrow carts being made super powerful to  reset times being re-readjusted and even our opponents! I'd like to welcome Sorrow's Furnace to tier 6 and say goodbye to Devona's Rest as they slid down not only from second place in tier 6 but all the way to tier 7.

Last Friday we met these gentlemen of Sorrow's Furnace with much relaxation and some would even say cockiness expecting an easy victory over those who had been in tier 8 for such a long time and only recently broke free. Much to my surprise however, these gentlemen were not gentlemen at all but bloodthirsty savages who enjoy punching faces. They came in throngs and were very well organized winning the race to Stonemist on Friday while nearly capturing our keep with a handful of soldiers at the same time as well as getting the upper hand in every single borderland. I began to worry that perhaps this was the end for Darkhaven's dominance and we would start a slippery slide of depression back down in the tiers. Luckily by Monday we had the upper hand once again as the numbers of Sorrow's Forge began to wane and we once again established a foothold.

Isle of Janthir kind of took the place of Devona's Rest this week and weren't much of a factor. They seem to have a good late night crew though and managed to remain relevant in points throughout the week. I don't mean to disrespect IoJ in any way I just feel like the SF zerg from the weekend dampened their spirits despite moving up to second place in the tier.

Overall this has been the most exciting week of WvWvW I've experienced since the first (and only?) time we faced Sanctum of Rall way back when WvWvW matches were only 24 hours long or perhaps some of our more recent run-ins with Anvil Rock. I feel like Darkhaven has grown as a server and look forward to this upcoming week and the reset tonight.

We've been matched against the same servers for a few weeks now after moving up from our previous bracket and the pictures tell the tale. The first one was taken about 10 minutes before the reset Friday and the second picture is from the same time Saturday. Hopefully we move up Friday because I feel like the servers growing weary of the same routine against the same opponents. You've been put on notice Jade Quarry and Sanctum of Rall Ehmry Bay and Anvil Rock/Borlis Pass, Darkhaven is coming.

I Don't Want Them To Gain Another Yard

A few days ago I was defending Blue's Keep after we had taken it in Eternal Battlegrounds. The local commander ordered us to "hold the gate" and it triggered a thought inside of my head about the usefulness of such a strategy.

"Do not try to hold the gate as it is far too heavy. Instead keep your enemies out of your territory."

Today my warrior hit 80 and moments later he was approached by a beggar. I've dealt with beggars in video games since Ultima Online and it's always baffled me how people could simply expect something from a complete stranger without any explanation. Often times rather than simply ignoring them I probe their thought process and the results tend to be even more baffling than my original quandary. Today however, I managed to do something that surprised even myself, I got the beggar to pay me.

He was understandably upset however, I never lied or deceived him. My warrior was in fact wearing trash gear as I'd leveled him nearly exclusively in WvWvW and the gear opportunities there aren't very spectacular. In the end he attempted to profit from fabricating the truth while I stuck to the actual factual truth and accomplished his goal.

As my charr warrior lay face down in the mud infront of Durios Gulch after a successful capture the following wisdom came to me:

"Do not chase down enemies, instead only chase downed enemies."
