There's a fun reference to it when you look at the boss fights from the new Abyss of the Four event.

As a recap of the event gameplay, after defeating a Beast in the event, you can pick a random Power (an equippable buff) as a reward. A few of the Powers are obtainable no matter which Beast you fight, but some are exclusive to a single Beast (such as the Powers that let you summon one of their respective minions).

Notably:

Eternal Sugar gives you immunity to Taint (a debuff applied by Shadow Milk) and Light damage (the element SMC is weak to) - Sloth brings about Deceit

Burning Spice gives immunity to Apathy (applied by Mystic Flour) and Darkness damage (which MFC is weak to) - Destruction is followed by Apathy

Mystic Flour gives immunity to Enchanted (applied by Eternal Sugar) and Steel damage (ESC's weakness) - Apathy creates Sloth

Shadow Milk gives Earth damage (Burning Spice's weakness) and reduces indirect damage (BSC notably applies the Burn debuff to your team as both a boss and playable character, which is counted as indirect damage. This might be irrelevant though because SMC's boss also applies Burn lol) - from Deceit springs Destruction

So.

Part of each Beasts' powers seem to be targeted with the purpose of actively hurting one of the other Beasts. and in the exact order as described by totally-not-disguised-SMC in BY11. okayy
