something we need to admit is that ray toro is one of the most talented musicians of this century and a fundamental pioneer of the movement of rock sound into the 21st century, and yet his talent is largely ignored due to a racist fanbase. we can’t just blame the outside perception of mcr because they’ve been acknowledged as a good band by very large publications and rock legends themselves. ray is the only person of color in the band and his own fanbase ignores him. just think for a second and consider who is really to blame.
mcr fans appreciate their music more than anyone and something that should come along with that is an understanding of the fact that ray is the musical genius of the band. hands down. they all make equally important contributions but ray is the mastermind behind the intricacies of every song, the band themselves have admitted it countless times. and yet people still ignore him and crop him out of photos and videos and say he’s not as important to them as the other members. if it’s not glaringly obvious to you why that is then something is wrong with you. you should be angry.
"Ray Toro and Frank Iero were both polite and friendly. Frank was relaxed and cracked sharp jokes, but later in the interview he was intense and passionate. Ray was happier to take a back seat, but when he did speak it was obvious that everyone else listened and deferred to him. He seemed like the band’s quiet mastermind, while Gerard seemed its visionary."
