I knew it was over, right from the beginning!

Been getting really into Waitress lately and this is my favourite track!

I probably have synesthesia but for the most part it’s just letters & numbers. Connie is a song that actually is a colour to me, and it’s VERY VIOLENTLY orangey-yellow. I only made the subject blue because it would look cooler 🥀

As usual there’s a couple hidden tidbits and connotations that I’ll assume you’ll be capable of finding yourself

Ok, alongside actually getting followed by Important People over there, I got asked if I have an Instagram today by an IRL so I’m scheduling some of my art to go up over the next week or so (not even for algo purposes, I just hate pressing “post” it makes me so anxious… this is why I have 20 drafts at least in each social…)

This also made me realise that a lot of my personal art is music-based. Don’t ask me how I didn’t notice this before 💀

Like Labyrinth, sure, but Heaven Up There and Overheated are both based on songs too 😭

In modern-au or even the their usual universe, do you think any of your characters would celebrate pride month?

Happy pride btw!!

In the modern AU, Simon, Stella, and Yuki would actively celebrate pride month and Nick wouldn’t be interested (or maybe go to parades performatively or because he’s roped into it? He’s a bit of a pushover performative man in the modern AU lmao). Thy Maj wouldn’t know what a pride month or a parade is probably

In their normal AU, it was too early for pride to be a thing. I think theoretically if the topic of LGBT+ came up, Stella would be an ally and Nick and Simon would be neutral/indifferent at worst. I mean, they’re all close friends with Yuki and accept him as he is. Thy Maj would probably not be overly cool about LGBT+ because he’s older, and treats patients for homosexuality as if it’s a fault ☹️

A lot of my characters have diverse identities and sexualities even if the terminology didn’t exist at the time; Simon is asexual and biromantic (and also kind of has some kind of non-binary spectrum vibe about him I can’t place), and Yuki is an intersex nb home of sexual. I could easily see Stella being bi as well. Nick is straight sorry 🥀 (although nothing to say you can’t ship him with men, a lot of people ME ME ME do anyway)

i think what really accentuates this is that this IS a memory of them in its own meta way. The members of Tally Hall have not looked like this for decades. They've all grown up now, so to speak, so when people draw them as they were in the early 2000s it's just a distorted memory that feels contemporary because there's few recent pictures of all of them.

BINGO! that’s also why Rob’s face is split into two, because he was popular both for tally hall and for his work in 2014 (29 impressions, Shia labeouf live). I really tried to think about the most basic and superficial aspects of each of them and emphasized and distorted them. Their memory comes from the collective consciousness of the public/fans.
