hikes are very good yes but a deluxe hike is when you are accompanied by a freak with niche nature knowledge. they’re like omg stop there’s a horned valerian varmint beetle here and then you both get to crouch down and look at a bug like :)
glimpse into my beautiful imaginary world where arthropods are really big and we domesticated them
edit: people are starting to say some "my worst nightmare" or "eeeww no that one is yucky and scary" comments on this like they do on any bug post and id like to say. it's fine if you don't like bugs it's fine if you're scared of bugs but don't put that on MY post clearly talking about how much i like them and how cute i think they are. you can make your own damn post about how much you hate wasps or spiders or whatever. i'm blocking people who make these kinds of comments.
can't stop thinking about this
idk if it was your barber or the shows hairstylist but you have enemies out there man. this was not even slightly the move. im going to need you to brush those bangs forward as soon as possible even your barcode looking fringe was better than this
it's been one of those of weeks... park that car drop that phone sleep on the floor dream about me!
We Raise Our Cups really fucks with me. It’s brutally hopeful. It’s a farewell to Orpheus. Sure. everyone knows that. but. its also a call to action.
Hadestown is not subtle in how it shows the power of revolutionaries, of love and hope and human compassion over that of the capitalist cycle of abuse. WRoC is talking about Orpheus. But it is also talking about every person with that revolutionary spirit.
Orpheus is all of us, and every person who stands against exploitation, is Orpheus. The theme is there, but it’s especially strong in Is It True, where he stands against the Fates themselves to challenge the world, only bolstered by the normal people that stood up and heard his words and showed him the power of words.
When Persephone asks where Orpheus is now, it is not entirely that she wonders where the man himself is, but also that she is pouring a drop to every person who holds his legacy and fights for the cause.
Then they praise the birds who sing in the night and the flowers that bloom in snow. A metaphor for those people who fight to make beauty in inhospitable places, who strive for good in darkness.
“To Orpheus, and all of us”
To Orpheus, to those who hold his spirit, to those who lead revolutions, and to those who follow him. The cycle of Orpheus and Eurydice is a love song. It is a tragedy. And yet we all know that one day. one time. they will make it out together. It is on that day, when an Orpheus finally manages to bring their Eurydice back, that the revolution succeeds, and the Shades get to follow their path out of Hades. And the mortals get to live free from the poverty and despair of their oppression.
We sing the song even though it is sad, because we know that spring will come and the world will go back in tune once they make it out together. And Hades can take the seasons, the food from our mouths, the fire from our stoves, every ounce of gold from the rivers, but what he cannot take, nor any other like him, is our songs and the cries of an impassioned heart. And may those songs inspire a thousand Orpheus’ to journey to defeat Hades. Because eventually one will win. It only takes one.
So let the song reach the next Orpheus, wherever they are wandering. Alone on this Earth. And let the song comfort them as they start the cycle again.

Working on a Song: The Lyrics of HADESTOWN, Anaïs Mitchell
Curious what dungeons and dragons (or baldurs gate) class each of your OCs would be?
Ooooh I am very rusty from playing D&D (or Baldur’s gate, I was obsessed when it first came out and it died as quickly as it came on) and I only played as one or two classes because I didn’t find any of the tanks interesting
Simon would be a Monk
I’m really tempted to make Nick a Bard, but only because all my twinks are Bards and I could see him using Vicious Mockery to make people kill themselves (real) (did this a lot in both my campaigns and BG3). In reality probably a rogue though.
Yuki is a Sorcerer or Wizard. He was inspired by a magical Sim from the Sims 4 so that makes sense.
I think Stella would be a Cleric.
Thy Majesty would also be a Cleric but for a different divine power.
By the way, an OC I never talk about is Damien, who is my D&D/BG3 default go-to whenever I have to play a game. He’s a fallen aasimar Bard and was originally for a Curse of Strahd campaign I never completed because I have a habit of dating my D&D DMs and them turning out to be assholes.
He does have wings and a halo but BG3 needed heavy mods for that ↓
