Headcanon preview of a longfic AU:
1/31/2018: This was an AU I have been discussing with @ayahinas for a while now. I found the strength to write so I thought I would share a part of it. This is not how I would have written the actual scene in detail, but I hope it gives you a preview of how the story started.
The setting was before the start of a war in Japan - a time of innocent smiles and sunshine, a time when promises and memories were created.
“Ayato, hurry up or we are gonna get soaked,“ Touka looked behind her brother’s direction, slowing down. “Do you want mama to scold us?“
“I’m sorry, onee-chan. I can’t run anymore,” Ayato stopped with a huff, bending to his knees as he tried to catch his breath. The rain was now falling down, its strength increasing as the chilly breeze of the air passed through their skins. The siblings were on their way home after school had ended, but both of them were surprised by the sudden outpour.
Touka sighed and walked towards her brother, ruffling her hair as she gave him a small smile. It did not matter then if they get soaked or scolded, as long as they get to go home soon. “If you are tired, do you want me to carry you?”
Ayato looked at his sister in admiration - always the kind one, always the one who offered her hand. He wished to be strong like her, wished to be as cool. He shook his head and took her hand instead.
But even before he could stand, the rain stopped pouring in their heads as a boy with raven hair smiled - umbrella in hand, shielding them from the storm. “It looks like you guys need a little help.”
It was the first time, the first meeting, the first encounter. Who would have known that their lives would change forever?
