Yes!! Excuse my ramblings, but I think it would play out something like this:
Headlines that Phantom goes missing. Its unusal, the Ghost Boy is almost always on call. Several ghosts wreck havoc on Amity Park in the span of the few days he goes missing, the ghost hunters are getting stressed. Not that they would admit it, but Phantom was a huge ‘helping’ factor in the line of defence aginst ghosts. What happened to that little menace?
And has anybody seen Danny Fenton? Danny’s human form going missing didnt get as much attention but Phantom skeptics were quick to bring that to light.
The answer is found when he turns up at NASA, of all places… And carring the dead Mars rover? Of all things? Opportunity wasnt a small rover either, roughly the size of your average car. And the kid was carrying it like a teddy bear. A recon mission would have cost millions, if not billions. They wernt about to look the gift horse in the mouth but…
One of the reportedly most dangerous and malevolent creatures on record came to them like this. The kid fought aginst the very dust storm that finished their rover. Bits of dust were frozen in ice, its- or his hair was dirty and windblown. It seemed he was in some state of being thawed, because the subzero vacuum of space tended to freeze things. Space was so harsh and all of humanities best conbined tech could barely handle it. Yet this kid went to Mars and back, carrying a huge hunk of metal? With no ship, no protection, or no mission control to speak of? He scoured the stormy and unforgiving surface of a unfamiliar planet for the rover? Impressive.
And he was mumbling between his sobs. The scientists didnt get all of it but some heard “-it shouldnt have died so young, not like me-”. Another reported hearing “-just wanted to be an astronaut.”
Later, the scientists came up with two plausable explanations for Phantom’s words. One was self-projection, another was Obsession. Or a mix of both. None of them would ask the ghost about it though.
Of course, security had been called on the dangerous ghost and the engineering teams were hauling Opportunity away. One scientist had draped a thin blanket over the shaking kid’s shoulders.
So Phantom had wanted to be an astronaut, huh? If he was able to travel to Mars in less than a week then he might just have the future he wanted.
