TRANSMASC CROWLEY TRANSMASC CROWLEYYYYYYY
GOOD OMENS FANDOM!
Can we collectively agree that we need to keep our fan theories far away from Neil? Especially now!
HE CANNOT USE ANYTHING THAT WAS BROUGHT FORWARD BY SOMEONE ELSE!!!! If you send him a theory or an analysis, it guarantees that he cannot use it and it will never make it into the show. Ever. He cannot use someone else's creative work. Even if it's just a fan theory or headcanon.
DON'T SEND HIM ASKS ABOUT THEORIES AND HEADCANONS. Please. He's said multiple times that our headcanons are valid and real for us. He encourages us to have them and to be fans and to create fanworks. He doesn't need to validate any headcanon or theory for it to be worth something because it already IS. He loves his fans a great deal, which is extremely evident to me, and I hope to you all too.
He's writing season 3 now, and I'm overjoyed. It's going to be amazing.
THIS!!!!
YOU'RE ONLY HARMING WHAT WE COULD MAYBE HAVE!!!
So be excited, but don't COPY NEIL on anything. He's also going to be busy, busy, busy writing, so let him get in the flow and get creative.
Please be kind. To yourselves and to him.
This needs thousands of notes, seriously. Every corner of the fandom needs to see this. People not on Tumblr need to see this. This isn't just about Neil, this applies to any writer who takes the time to communicate with their fandom. DO NOT SEND THE AUTHOR HEADCANONS. DO NOT SEND THE AUTHOR META THEORIES. DO NOT CRAWL UP TO THE AUTHOR AND BEG THEM TO VALIDATE YOUR BELIEFS ON THE CHARACTERS' SEX LIVES. Please stop.
I think a lot of commenters and others on this post are missing the fact that this is not formless paranoia, or a new kind of parasocial reader-and-author etiquette. At the very least this harkens back to our shared fandom history, in particular the infamous incident of fanworks and the work of Marion Zimmer Bradley. It doesn't have to do with 'that's not how the law works' and 'Neil already has it plotted out and our stuff won't interfere'. It's the fact that this kind of behaviour can snowball into something else. It might invite, among other things, the possibility of our favourite authors being unjustly sued or the creative work in question never coming to fruition. It's about protecting and respecting each other's boundaries in the creative sphere. That's all it is. The lines are easier to cross now and we're saying... don't. Just have fun and play in your fandom sandbox. The authors will be playing in their own.
Someone reblogged this from my addition with the comment "that's not how copyright law works" but I can't find it anymore, maybe they changed the comment or deleted the reblog or I'm just blind as usual.
I considered making my own post, but since most of the links are to Neil Gaiman's tumblr and Good Omens related anyway, I might as well add my little collection on here.
First, fandom history:
The Marion Zimmer Bradley Case on Fanlore.org
The Babylon 5 incident (also on Fanlore)
Second, the warnings of professional creators here on Tumblr:
Neil Gaiman #1 (confirming he would have to scrap ideas for s3 if he accidentally read a similar one from a fan)
Neil Gaiman #2 (he is deleting fan-fiction send to him and blocking people who do it more than once, + sharing a relevant Terms of Service excerpt from Netflix)
Neil Gaiman #3 (reblogging an addition to #2 about the Babylon 5 incident)
Neil Gaiman #4 (unsolicited materials & it's legally cleaner)
Neil Gaiman #5 (sharing that bonkers LotR case link & reiterating)
Neil Gaiman #6 (basically him saying "how often do I have to say this?")
(Like, do you really need any more warnings from him personally???)
Diane Duane (+ additions by Neil Gaiman & Mike Flanagan, Neil Gaiman's is a request for everyone to read this before trying to involve him)
Joy Demorra (once more, author vs. unsolicited material)
(I was a 100% sure I had seen a post by Mike Flanagan about the dangers of creators being accused of plagiarism even without reading fan-fiction, and why that made it so important that they never do. If I ever find it again, I'll put it here.)
Btw, in the notes of the post by Diane Duane (one of the fandom founding mothers, in case you didn't know) I learned that her fans have the special tags #dd don't look and #not you dd, so she can easily avoid fandom posts she is not supposed to see. Maybe we can agree to do something similiar, like #neil don't look or #not you ng?
Also, as someone else in the notes already pointed out:
@ neil-gaiman (without the space): sends it directly to Neil. Don't do that.
#neil gaiman: fandom tag to find things related to Neil Gaiman. Use this.
(And yes I got a little fixated during my holiday vacation. And you have no idea how BAD the tumblr search function actually is.)
you set my soul alight 💫

⚠️ On this blog we love Crowley AND Aziraphale
transparent slut for icons etc :)
Starting off with a slightly... Classical depiction.
Those of you who've been following my main and other accounts already know this but I've been ostriching in Good Omens for a while now, so a few of these will be heavily themed.
If that's not what you're into, block #good omens and that should take care of it.
the sluttiest thing a character can be is crowley in a turtleneck
while we’re at it let’s consider turtleneck crowley + half-bun hairstyle tho
me waking up this morning: boy that was a nice christmas break, but now it’s time to be a good little worker man and focus on my commissions and start my day as productive as i can be—
the first post i see on my dash: 🥺

Don't overthink it, angel.

My interpretation of @highspeeddemon 's Aziraphale from Contrition 🤍
Crowley's here
And what an amazing work, I highly recommend reading it. Mind the tags dears <3
Find me on Instagram for more art and wips
Oh no, you thought there'd ever be an Aziraphale without Crowley? Puhlease. (Click on "Aziraphale" for the link towards the pic)
(Part II of) my interpretation of @highspeeddemon 's Crowley from Contrition. It turned out more as a mix of ideas instead of a certain scene, but nevertheless I got to draw my long haired demon so I'm happy <3
Make sure to read Contrition , I promise you it's more than worth it 🤍
As always you can find me on Instagram for more updates and wips x
