LOVE AND FEAR ... a healthy leader straddled the line enough to keep their people infatuated with the idea of them, but managed to maintain a good sense of fear to avoid altercation. daenerys never wanted to become a ruler that instilled fear into the hearts of others. she was a liberator, the breaker of chains. and yet, those who found themselves unshackled had willingly absorbed themselves into her army, one that grew with each passing day, striking fear into those who called westeros home.
her father was a distant blur. what she knew of him was told to her through secondhand stories. the mad king was a fearful leader, gripping the seven kingdoms with an iron fist. people feared him - what he was capable of doing. and that fear ... it got him killed.
"i would rather find myself to be loved," she admits. it's a naive desire. to be loved by those who did not know her name, but the name of the man who ruled before her. how could she change the minds and hearts of those who have already judged her? daenerys' eyes fall to the ground, knowing it is impossible to please everyone.
"i do not want to be amongst the stories of those who have come before me. i desire to break the mold, to change the way this all works, to break the wheel," she looks up, brows furrowed slightly. "i know in doing that, i will not be loved by all ... and perhaps be feared by some. there will be some that will resist change. an unfortunate reality."
but this was war. daenerys crossing the narrow sea with her envoy was the start of it all. the dragons the soared above them now were her claim to the iron throne. and they, alone, were enough to supply a good sense of fear to those around her. "and you, my lady, what should you prefer? it seems we both find ourselves arising from the shadows of our fathers."

GENTLE IS THE TOUCH THAT SEEKS TO COMFORT HIM. her small hand caresses the side of gawain's face, thumb brushing softly at the height of his cheek. she was a dragon, the last of her kind, but all that cruelty was lost in her. daenerys stands amongst her three children, all of them circling around the two of them, as if to provide some level of privacy. drogon's gaze is a constant, studying the man with an intensity comparable to none.
"i would have waited for you, ser," she admits. many had travelled the narrow sea to meet her as she maintained a presence in mereen. this was her last stop before returning home. with an army and three dragons, it was only a matter of time before the targaryen dynasty had returned to westeros. gawain had been a pleasant surprise. amongst a sea of knights who had sought to serve her, his noble nature had pulled at a certain heartstring within. he was like the old stories had mention, he was like how she'd once imagined rhaegar.
her hand slips away from his face, falling to rest within her sleeve. a softened smile graces daenerys' face as viserion stirs behind them. she steps to the side, just as the dragon pushes its snout forward and presses it against the knight. "i fear they've grown quite attached to your presence here, it would be a shame to see you go."
