Miguel Villegas of Mixteco ñuu savi hip Hop explains and demonstrates why and how the whip is cracked. Miguel Villegas Ventura was born in San Miguel Cuevas, Juxtlahuaca, Oaxaca, came to the United States when he was seven years old along with his Mother and 3 older siblings. By beginning to write more positive songs, he understood that he can motivate his Oaxaqueño peers through rap music. Autonomos, a Oaxacan youth group in which Miguel joined in 2010, was the match the he needed to spark his lyrics. He was able to create a rap song in Mixtec, Spanish, and English, showing his commitment in reclaiming his identity, his language and culture.
