The amount of my intelligent, well-meaning mutuals who try and engage in intelligent discussion with sexist podcast disciples (and get suspended in the process 😭 🥀) is appalling.
I wish we'd collectively realise that trying to convert the worldview of people like this with kindness is a waste of time and that their hatred for us runs deeper than flippant jokes online.
Clarification: I’m not telling people to “Stop calling out sexists.” Rather, I’m saying: Stop engaging with sexists like they can be reasoned with. You won’t out-logic someone whose entire identity is rooted in your subjugation.
It really hurts to realise this, but sexism isn't JUST rage baiting algorithmic slop à la Tate. It's an entrenched social order that infects most institutions/systems/interactions. It doesn’t stay because not enough people are telling sexists to "Stop being mean to us, pretty please"🥺 👉👈
It stays because it serves a function. They (sexists) won't defend it through civil debate, but through mockery, derailment, and outright hostility because they know this is a battle of power, not ideas!
