nekomusumeauthor: âEheheheââ True though. âI couldnât help it? It was a dear present from my Pokemon when we were traveling together! Thereâs memories even if there may or may not be a spirit attached to it.â
âSentiments aside... I cannot imagine your friend would wish ill luck on you...â He took a moment, brow furrowing slightly in thought. Then again... the woman did rather like ghost types...
â...Mn. Even so... one does have to draw the line somewhere.â
Stares down at the large scarab beetle-shaped amulet. ââŚBut itâs my favorite cursed talisman.âÂ
â...Though I am sure it is no business of mine... you really ought to know better.â
My friend did something cataclysmic and now he's gone and lost his only Pokemon, I haven't seen him for some time because he spends his days searching for his lost friend, what do I do?
...Remind him that there is a world outside of his grief, and people who inhabit it. I imagine that hope would do your friend a world of good.
Now say hypothetically I have a cursed talisman from an ancient tomb that was with my Pokemon... What should I do with it? Hypothetically speaking.
Hypothetically... I suppose the best course of action would be to return it. Even so, curses-- especially those from the old world-- like to stick to their victims. A prayer and an offering to the region's patron deities might do you some good... should you offer it at the site your talisman was taken. Mh... should your partner be attached to the item, or you've no way of knowing from where it was taken... I imagine a cleansing might break the curse.
...Speaking hypothetically, that is.
There's this guy I like at work, but I'm not sure how to tell him. Can you help me AZ?
Tell him through your good works... acts of valor and kindness, for this man is surely observing you intently. Only when he judges you to be a good person capable of reform and redemption... will he return your calls...
juantriumphant: âAh⌠Whatâs that distant sound? Applause for Juan?âWith a chuckle, he turns his head in the direction of the sound and bows his head in gratitude.âHow you delight me with your audience! Please, make yourself known that Juan may thank you properly for such a grand courtesy!!â
âMmh... an audience of one is a meager courtesy. Surely thanks are unneeded...â Az mumbles, distractedly picking stray rose petals from his hair. Having the strange man-- the âJuan,â apparently-- place his full attention squarely on him makes Az a little uncomfortable. The attention Az is used to is never so grand, and he finds himself only able to stare at the man under the obscuring safety of the hair falling mostly over his eyes.
â...I am called Az... if it pleases you,â he offers, voice strained with courtesy he is mostly unused to. With a darting, squinting sort of look, he adds hesitantly, âand you are... a performer...?â Searching the vast, hazy expanses of his memory yields precious little to compare this man to. Court life and the myriad of fancy, well-to-do people like this is a muddled, half-remembered thing, useless to him now. Unless...
âA jester...!â Az supplies helpfully, looking immediately pleased with himself. A strange tradition to find out as far as Hoenn, certainly, but Az is not one to judge another man's vocation.
Send me a personal problem of yours on anon and I will try to give you advice in character.
"I'm sorry--please, can you help me?"
â...Ah?â
Az glanced around in that unhurried way of his, certain he would find some smaller, more approachable person just behind him. When the slow realization hit that she was, in fact, talking to him, Az was a little taken aback. The sheer newness of the feeling made him uneasy. â...Yes?â he asked, his wild eyes stealing only brief glances at her. â...What is it that troubles you.â

"Excuse me, but youâve got a little something on your face there."
"Well... this is awkward."
"I guess this is the part where we shake hands and say 'nice to meet you', right?"
"I've seen you here before, but I guess I just never had the courage to say hello before."
"I'm so excited to finally meet you in person! I've always dreamed of this."
"Sorry, but, um... am I the only one confused here? Why hasn't anyone else showed up?"
"Watch out!"
"Am I dead? Are you an angel?"
"Okay, okay, listen. I miiiiight have had a little too much, and I miiight need someone to help me get home. You look trustworthy, so let's go."
"I'm sorry--please, can you help me?"
"I look forward to working with you."
"I look forward to serving you."
"Stay still! I'm trying to stop the bleeding!"
"I'm not trying to be nosy or anything, but... I've been seeing you here a lot lately, always by yourself. I just wanted to say, if you have anything on your mind, I'd listen."
"Um, I know you don't know me, but I think what you did back there was very brave."
"Some weather we're having, huh?"
earthpowerx:
The sight of such a towering figure didnât even cause him to flinchâ he stood, unwavering, eyes narrowed. Loss? No, never.
He looks the man over slowlyâ his figure is gigantic, the rest of him, unkempt. He is mysterious but Maxie remains disinterested. âYou look as though youâve lost many things, my friend,â He says with an indifferent breath, looking away momentarily.
His attention is brought back to the man with a snap when he speaks again.
âIs that what I see, reflected in your eyesâŚ?â
He grits his teeth and clenches a fistâ It seemed he could never truly hide his turmoil, especially from someone who was wise enough to look into his soul, no matter how accustomed he became to make believing that everything was going according to plan and that he hadnât failed.
âHow could I lose something⌠That I havenât even achieved yet?â
Not quite a lie, his statement is the closest he has come to accepting the earth shattering truth that he harbors.Â
â...There are many kinds of loss,â says Az, his voice low and for a moment, barely audible. He sees facets in this man-- multiple sides of him, in conflict with one another. There is suffering there, though Az cannot quite tell how much of it was self-imposed.
âThis land has changed into something quite hard to recognize. Though it is not my homeland... I do hold a certain affection for this place, and its people.â There is a keen steadiness to his gaze as Az studied him, deeply, quietly interested. His voice, his gaze, both were free from judgment... though in some ways, that may have made things worse.
âThough your dream remains unfinished... I understand you've had a role in shaping this land of Hoenn into something different. I suppose my reasons may be selfish... but I would very much like to know more.â

` âWhaâ? What do you mean my disguise is â not good enough â? Hm! Perhaps that is just you, yes! For when I walked past a shop, for a brief moment, I saw myself in the windowâs very reflection! && I thought to myself: Arceus, Looker! Who is that?! but then, I remembered! It is me! Ha ha haâ! ` His own nervous laughter was cut off by his commissioner grunting in disapproval, murmuring something about how he â canât mess this up â.
This was Looker, remember.
` Ha! No, no! I will not let you down, no sir! Yes, for I, the great Lookerâ `

As shady grownups went, they didn't come any shadier or... well, more grown than Az. There were certain modern subtleties that were lost on him-- changes in the way people viewed him and interacted as civilizations began to better organize themselves. Much like âcellular phonesâ and âInternet,â the concept of âloiteringâ had yet to fully take root in the ancient man's mind. Of course, he realized  people had an adverse reaction to his presence whenever he entered a city, and that the law enforcement of those cities paid him a special amount of attention wherever he lingered, but the correlation between the two had never fully occurred to him. After all, it was a rare thing indeed for Az to be attentive enough to make those sorts of connections. At any given time, he tended to be mentally elsewhere-- someplace far away and long ago.
So Az was understandably caught off guard when his surprisingly gentle tap on the shoulder was greeted with such a sudden, fierce glare. And couldn't he have sworn the smaller man had an entirely different face not a moment ago...?
â...Ah?â While there was most certainly ever-present suspiciousness about his jagged features, he seemed mostly caught off guard, eyes wild and wide, mouth slightly agape. He was a man perpetually and just slightly confused by the pace of the world around him.
â...Pardon,â he said in that low, soft voice of his, making some token effort of composing himself. Az extended a hand to the man, something grasped delicately by huge, grubby fingers. It looked to be a styrofoam cup of cheap instant noodles, still wrapped in cellophane. He cleared his throat, perhaps a little awkwardly.
âEarlier... you may have dropped this.â

"Do you believe in any superstitions? Like good luck charms or that sort of thing?"
âI believe... the world is more complicated then most would think. There are arcane truths some would dismiss as superstition... and there are those who can see the vague shape of destiny. But on the whole... hmh. I think a man is ultimately in charge of his fate. Ill decisions are his responsibility alone. His burden to shoulder... do you not agree?â
