”What else can I do?”
kaizokv:
❝ Apologies, Towa sama. I seemed to have space out for a moment, haha. ❞
“Riku! What did I say about the ‘Towa sama’ thing?! Just call me Towa! You don’t need to be so formal with me! We’re friends, right?
Is worried Setsuna and Riku are gonna fight again because of her...for like the hundredth time.
kaizokv:
*stares*
“Eh, Riku? Why are you looking at me like that?”
completely unprompted // always open
@azureacrosstime asked: “I-I didn’t mean to distract Setsuna, Father! H-Honest!” A small four year old Towa cries out, tears in her eyes as she had gotten caught sneaking into Setsuna’s tent during one of her training lessons. “I-I just wanted to learn too! Why can’t I learn with Setsuna?!”
“Because you’re weak, you are nothing like your sister.” The man spoke harshly looking down at the spawn that he had brought into this world, nothing more than a disappointment that was too soft for this world. At the very least there was potential in Setsuna however, hope was all but lost upon Towa, she kept too much of that woman in her, the fool that thought he could actually love but what he truly wanted was a way for his clan to survive and he had found that in setsuna of whom could represent their race with pride, Towa on the other hand he had plans mainly to build relationships among other countries, send her off towards a king in order for her to create a litter of soldiers for the new generations.
However, that plan went up in smoke as she had tried his patience one too many times. A single hand reaches for his blade however, his assimilated retainer charges into the area between him and his daughter. “Please M’lord, I ask that you show this one compassion for it is clear that she lacks a warrior’s instinct and all she has left is the pursuit of your approval. Can you blame her m’lord? She’s simply in awe of your powers and wishes to be as strong.” Jaken spoke as he bent a knee, practically pleading for the canine’s forgiveness.
“See to it that she is kept in her chambers, now…leave us.” He turns his back away from them as an ecstatic Jaken smiles and gently takes the little girl by the hand. “Come now Lady Towa, off to bed.” Honestly, when did Jaken become so sentimental with these brats? Of course his honor and loyalty is given to them at birth simply because they share this blood of his lord..but there was something about these little ones that drove him to go above and beyond to ensure their safety..even from the very lord he pleads to serve.
highseaskxng:
“I have the absolute faith in you too, soo much that-“ He paused his sentence and began to strip himself of his equipment. Every metal vessel he wore were laid onto the boat from his sword to his ring, one last ring however, was kept upon his finger considering even if they were attacked this Djinn would have been considered useless considering he’s never truly utilized Gremory as he has with his other six djinn so it goes without saying that he simply did not understand its uses because of its supportive capabilities.
“Now you’re the power house on this boat.” Casting the sails down as their boat began sailing across the sea, onto the more dangerous terrain when it came to these waters. The large serpents would usually show their scales around here. “Be on your guard little Towa, fishes might not be the only thing we find here.”
“Uncle Sinbad?! Y-You’re taking those of?!” She could not believe the sight. In the years she’s known the man, she’s never once seen him remove any of his metal vessels. While he still had his wedding ring on, the one that housed the djinn Gemory, that was one Towa has never seen him use. Besides, he couldn’t take off his wedding ring. Auntie Kagome would surely kill him for it, but Towa appreciates what the gesture means all the same.
She runs to the front of the boat, pulling out her sword from it’s hilt and preparing her stance. They were not going to go for small fish. That much was certain. So, why should she try to catch one with a simple fishing rod? Her sword may not be imbedded with the power of a djinn like her teacher’s did, but it was still one crafted by the finest metalsmith in Sindria. It was one she had trained hard and long with, and now it was time to put everything to the test in front of one of the people she looked up to the most.
“Don’t worry! I’m ready for anything! I’m not the niece of the King of the Seven Seas for nothing, you know!” Towa proclaims, feeling her blood pumping inside her veins. She seemed to always feel this way in anticipation of combat of some sort. While not understanding why herself, the reality of that feeling came from the half Inu clan blood she inherited from her birth father. Learning that truth was for another day, crimson hues all focused on what great adventure and battle was awaiting her and uncle on the sea at this moment.

@azureacrosstime sent: "Ren, I have something for you. Today is a s-special day back in Sindria, but since we can’t be there to celebrate it right now, I t-thought I’d at least do my best to celebrate it here.“ Towa starts, her cheeks flushing a slight red as she takes this chance to give the Tao a gift since Setsuna and Tasuku were resting on the other side of their little camp in the forest they made on their way to Kou. "It’s a day where we show how much we care about those around us, so I w-wanted to get you something!”
She then takes out a small bag filled with honey candies she individually wrapped, another bracelet made of shells like the one he already had so he could have a matching set, and a scroll of her Uncle Sinbad’s newest volume of his adventure stories. Was it a bit too much? Yes, but the red look on her was a strong indicator as to why.
“H-Happy Sintines Day, R-Ren!”
Sin…tines…? Ren felt like facepalming and groaning…honestly! Of course the holiday had to (also) have his (Sinbad’s) name on it. Not that Ren hadn’t done the same in the past but that had been once, with something playful and it was a team name.
Still, he had better things to do than focusing on a holiday named after the king of the country. He had been cleaning his sword and staff by the shadow of a tree when Towa approached with all those gifts. She had grown a lot ever since he left to Magnostadt with Aladdin, not only her appearance had changed but her abilities had improved too. She had become fiercer and Ren would be lying if he said he hadn’t noticed.
A day where they showed how much they care about those around them…? Didn’t they do that every day already?
Ah well…didn’t matter. It would be of bad taste to not even check the gifts being given to him. Ren set aside his sword and the cloth he was using to polish it before taking onto his hands the bag Towa was offering.
He unwrapped one of the candies and threw it into his mouth, mumbling that it tasted good -even if honey wasn’t really his favorite flavor-. The bracelet with shells looked handmade just like the other one he was already using, it made him chuckle lightly. He wasn’t going to wear all sort of jewelry on him like Sinbad did, Ren preferred to keep this one at a safer place. And of course it only added to his amusement when he was given a scroll of Sinbad’s stories…he mentally shook his head. He read those when he was a child, nowadays not so much but he still appreciated the gift.
“Thank you.” he said with an honest smile this time “But you know…” he leaned in closer to her face…
…and flicked her forehead lightly.
“You don’t need to wait for a special holiday to give me these.”

He was...going to find out and murder whoever had wrote this application on his behalf! What were even most of those question in the form??
"M-Make out!?" he hated that he was stuttering and the fact Towa didn't exactly said no to that just sent a blood rush to his cheeks! This had to be Pisti's work!! Oh when he got his hands on her...
Ren could only sweat at the cooking question...the very last one of it...
Let's just say he would be better off not setting his foot in a kitchen to cook.
Ren coughed lightly, folding the application in two "This is ridiculous." he started..."You didn't have to fill out a stupid application if you wanted to do these."
His cheeks only got redder.

gentle , innocent purple orbs greet her sister’s enthusiasm with her own amusement . it was not new to see towa rejecting her studies & replace them with diversion . yet , despite the curiosity that brightened setsuna’s face when eyeing her actions & the scroll in her hand , she smiled . it was not that she didn’t want to join her sister in a new reading of their favorite adventure , but..
❛ but towa nee chan , the governess will be here any minute . even if we manage to avoid father’s eye , the governess will still catch us . ❜
“Hmm...We can’t let that happen then!” Towa says with confidence, not at all worrying about the potential consequences of doing what she was proposing. Unlike her sister, the eldest daughter of the Inu clan’s leader was quite the little trouble maker, always smiling and wanting her sister to have fun and not be cooped up in books all day. It was this behavior that made her father give her birthright to one day take his place as the leader to his sister, something Towa did not know or really seem to care about at such a young age.
“Let’s go to our favorite spot! You know, under the big apple tree in the forest! That way no one will see us! And if they do, we can just say we were training! They can’t get mad at that, right?”
consequor:
Perhaps that’s enough scolding for now. Ja’far takes a breath, crouching before her to be level with her gaze. He gives her a gentle, reassuring smile, smoothing some of her hair out of her eyes.
“Hush with that. You’ve already made everyone proud. You’ve shown to be quite talented and from what I hear, you’re improving quickly. However, being good with your sword does not mean you’re not going to make mistakes. Everyone does. In fact, there’s not a person in here that hasn’t fallen. And if anyone tells you otherwise, they’re a liar. In fact, you should have seen Sharrkan when he was your age. He might be good with a sword, but you would think he’d been born with two left feet sometimes.”
And it’s true. Ja’far has heard from Sharrkan that his ‘cute new student’ is going be an impressive swordsman one day. He’s been gushing more and more lately, eager to have found a student of his own. Enough so that Yamuraiha has warned him explicitly to watch himself, lest he turn the sweet girl into a sword freak like himself. And, in Yamuraiha’s own words she’s way to smart for that.
And Ja’far is glad that Towa has found something she enjoys doing. His hope was that in her being paired with Sharrkan, she might come out of her shell more if she had a hobby and someone to share it with. And that seems to have held true so far.
“No one is going to laugh at you for making a mistake. Because making mistakes is part of growing and improving. You would never get any better if you didn’t have something to learn from, right?” he says, gentle in his tone. “As for right now, I’ll give you two options. I can either bring you home and get you settled in your room. Or we can go have a snack in the courtyard. What do you think?”
“It doesn’t feel like I’m improving enough if I messed up so badly...and you and everyone else never make mistakes...You’re all so cool and can do so much! Compared to you all, I’m just...a failure.” She says, her confidence definitely having been shaken from this experience. Prior to today, she had been on a roll. picking up techniques quickly and even impressing her teacher with a thing of two. It made her feel...alive, like she was on top of the world. It was as if she was born to do this, born to fight and learn how to protect others. She couldn’t explain why she felt that way, but it was a feeling that was no doubt there and had only grown as she kept on with her training.
And she isn’t blind to how her training has scared her father, and how this incident was going to upset him in turn. Papa Sota had been very protective of her since the moment they met, and Towa cannot deny how she owes her life to him. He defended her when she was going to get killed by the people in the ship she had been with for two years, the people she thought could have been her family who instead tried to kill her once her secret got out. If it wasn’t for him doing that, then she woulda been a goner. It’s why she wanted to do everything she could to make him proud and to not cause trouble. It’s why she’s honestly terrified of what he will say when she gets home.
“I...I want to have a snack with you, Uncle Ja’far! A really really big snack!” Towa then clings to Ja’far’s leg, her body shaking as she tightly clings to it both out of seeking his protection and comfort, but also out of fear of what might happen if she goes home. “ I-I don’t wanna go home! N-Not yet! So please, please don’t send me there!”

“Well we can go to the spot your aunt had found, there are mostly small fishes near the island but if we sail north from Sindria and avoid the monsters we can catch bigger fish, thus I’ll leave it up for you to decide my dear Towa. You’re with the king of the seven seas, do not let the mention of any monster deter your decision.” Oh how Towa was growing, in any case he would probably blink and she’d be young woman and with that she will probably be on her own adventures soon. No, he’s seen it..Towa does set off on her own grand adventure.
For that she will be bombarded with difficult choices such as this one, will she go on the safer route to claim mediocre but satisfactory reward for the common man, or will she find elation within the unknown, within danger and brave the storms in order to claim what few would dare to? This was probably something Sota would object to..given her age, but Sinbad had faith.
Hmm...so he was letting her decide, huh? Was this one of his ways of testing how far she’s come, or was this him just being a nice uncle and wanting his niece to have a good time sharing in his passions? Towa had the feeling it was a bit of both, which is why she took a moment to think it over. Though, she came to a decision pretty quick as a confident expression then crossed the teenager’s face.
“I think I want to make this not your average fishing trip, so I definitely want us to go up north a bit, Uncle Sin! I wanna go on a real fishing adventure, and put my skills I’ve learned from Sensei Sharrkan to good use! I can take on anything that comes our way! Just...make sure not to tell Papa Sota where we went.” Guess Sinbad was rubbing off on her a bit too much at this time, his tales of adventure making her so eager for her own. Besides, her Papa Sota can’t get too mad at her if she has her all-powerful uncle with her, right?

Alright…she had succeeded in catching him by surprise this time.
Ren really hadn’t expected their conversation throughout their spar to take this turn. The two had just agreed to spar together with their swords alone, no magic or outside help from magic or any other techniques. Just them and their swords.
Towa had significantly improved ever since they began sparring almost on a daily basis, though at first Ren had proposed they trained both with wooden swords. Both of them had been trained by different people and were unfamiliar with each other’s techniques therefor Ren thought it would be better to get to know them before using real swords.
This was the first time they used the real ones and Ren had actually complimented Towa for having succeeded in reading his patterns and keeping up with his moves.
And then she dropped that…well…bomb.
Ren felt his cheeks starting to get warm and he quickly turned his back on the white haired girl. He grabbed his vest, putting it back on as he mumbled a…
“Don’t say that kind of idiotic things, what is that even supposed to mean?”
His heart however had felt…warm.

@azureacrosstime sent: 💕 + 7: your muse surprises my muse with breakfast in bed
Ren continuously stared at the outside of the window. There was nothing in particular he was looking at, there wasn’t much to be seen from where he stood, just mountains and he supposed if he stood up from bed he would also be able to see the full kingdom of Dragonica.
It was the first time he was seeing such place, he had woken up there. Last time he could even recall he had been in Kou…or so he thought? His memories were still strange though he remembered some things like the reason he had ended up unconscious in the first place. He had been unconscious for nearly a month according to those that had surrounded him once he had woken up.
There was a knock at the door and Ren merely looked at it. He didn’t answer but the door opened anyway. It was none other than Towa. She only had her head peeking inside the room, with her usual smile. She asked him how he was feeling but Ren just blinked once before turning his head back towards the window while remaining in the same sitting position in bed.
Ren didn’t answer. Not because he was trying to be mean or anything of sort. He just didn’t know how he was feeling, quite frankly.
During his time in the coma Ren had relived the darkest moments of his life. When his father had forced the family tattoo on his body; when his sister lost the one she loved and he had been unable to comfort her; when he slayed his victims, their last words, their begs for mercy ringing in his mind…when he had lost Yoh and when his father tortured him physically until he just became numb.
All of this relived over and over again. So yes…Ren didn’t know how he was feeling.
The mattress and the sheets shifted, snapping Ren out of his thoughts and making him look at the source. Something was placed on his lap. A tray with lots of food. There were several of, what looked like, bite-sized quiches of several types too, roasted corn, hot buns, different types of fruit and a big mug of juice as well.
He couldn’t possibly eat all of this alone.
Ren still blinked in both surprise and confusion, almost asking Towa with his eyes if she had done all of this. Towa scratched her cheek awkwardly, there was even a light blush and she began rambling about how she didn’t know what would be better to help him recover so she had ended up asking Rin for help and the two of them filled the tray…a lot.
He hadn’t realized he was hungry. Or maybe seeing all that food had made him hungry. Towa was still rambling. Ren reached and slowly brushed his fingers against her own hand.
A small smile.
“Thank you..Towa.”
It wasn’t just for the food.
