so my brother is autistic (undiagnosed but he is definitely on the spectrum) and his hyperfixations that he constantly rambles about are singing monsters, Mario, and pizza tower

I hate just shutting him down when he tries talking about them (I get overwhelmed easily when people talk fast or change topics fast, he does that) and so I’ve tried getting into the games, tried pizza tower and its gameplay wasn’t rlly my style, I’m neutral on the Mario games bc they’re fun but I’m not into the major story and all that, singing monsters was an easier game to try bc I did it on instinct

oh singing monsters is on steam? Download it while watching AReGct (however tf it’s spelled) and I finally play it

do you know how hard it is to play a game while a child hair their hair dangling over half your screen?

he sat there for an hour in silence just watching me play and occasionally pointing stuff out, it dawned on me after he left to go play his own island that since I had my earbuds in and wasn’t talking much it was just him watching my cursor move and click stuff while he told me what was dumb and what was smart

I’m pretty neutral on singing monsters rn bc it’s a game I can shut my brain off and play idly but it don’t like the timers bc I can leave for like 15 minutes before I have to collect and rebake food, but then I should just wait because I have ten more minutes until the egg hatches, it’s an endless cycle of rechecking if I’ve done everything there is or not

I think it’ll be a game where I play it for a week then forget about it for a month

But yk whatever makes him happy that he has someone with the same interest as him now

Ok so I’ve decided that even if I’m not personally interested in his hyperfixations that I’ll still ask about them and let him engage and stuff

so later today we have planned for him to watch Hamilton with me and in turn I’ll either let him tell me the lore to pizza tower without interruption or I’ll watch a video on the lore
