Leon focused on the order in his head before his thoughts could lead him astray, gathering himself like shattered pieces scattered across the floor. His eyes were closed, like they always were. He had shuttered himself behind the blank dark of his eyelids, letting the shards of memory replay in a disjointed sequence while he breathed in and out, until the strict rhythm became the only thing his body knew how to heed.
"Then come, Sancho Panza! Let us rescue the Princess Dulcinea!"
A broken smile twitched at his mouth when Luis Serra’s playful remark cut through his focus. The unprompted memory reached a place the pain in his body couldn’t touch, and he held the fragment close to his heart like something precious as he lowered his frame down.
"Come on, six more sets,” he whispered.
He stilled himself through the effort, with embers sweltering in his lungs.
His triceps and obliques scorched like hellfire the longer he held his chest close to the abrasive floor. The savage brilliance of the fluorescent light wrapped his naked, dampened back, where three long, thick scars from healed lacerations glistened pale beneath it. They bore the horrors that would never leave him, even if they had long since stopped itching like they used to.
His muscle memory of his peak physique flickered awake the moment he told it what he needed it to do. It listened to his call, and there he was, pushing himself to his absolute limits to fill the twenty-three hours of the day that imprisoned him in their passage.
And he’d come too damn far in such little time.
“Leon, we are gonna be okay, right?"
Sherry called out to him before he could brace himself. Her little hand squeezed his while they stood outside the old hotel room for the night after escaping Raccoon City. Her small face was tense with fear, her eyes shimmering when the light touched them.
He wrung his eyelids dry and held his breath in his exhausted lungs while he remained fixed in his high plank. He silently counted each breath through the blazing pain radiating across his shoulders and diaphragm, alongside the aching reminiscence etched into his psyche.
✧ Broken ribs suck. You don’t just “walk it off.” Breathing hurts. Laughing hurts. Existing hurts. Characters with rib injuries won’t be doing heroic sprints.
✧ Concussions aren’t instant naps. Dazed vision, nausea, dizziness, maybe even personality changes, but they’re not going to collapse neatly like in the movies.
✧ Blood loss is sneaky. It’s not just about dramatic pools of blood. It’s dizziness, confusion, and the body getting cold as circulation tanks.
✧ Adrenaline lies. Someone can take a serious injury and not feel it until the fight’s over. That “I didn’t realize I was bleeding until later” trope? Very real.
✧ Twisted ankles are brutal. One bad step and suddenly running is off the table. Even walking hurts like hell. Perfect way to ground a chase scene.
✧ Burns linger. Even small burns hurt more than most people expect. Blisters, infection risk, constant pain, it’s not just a cool scar later.
✧ Dislocated shoulders = useless arm. Characters can’t keep swinging a sword or firing a gun. They’re basically fighting one-armed until it’s fixed.
✧ Shock is a thing. Pale skin, trembling, rapid heartbeat, and eventually disorientation. A character might not even realize how bad their wound is.
✧ Stitches aren’t magic. Getting sewn up is painful and recovery takes time. They’re not instantly battle-ready after a needle and thread.
✧ Scars tell stories. Some fade, some don’t. Some stay sensitive forever. Don’t forget the aftermath when the wound becomes part of the character.

some of the unique things i’ve liked:
- moderation lists: massive human made blocklists. they have lists for MAGAs, Nazis, genAI users/posters, NFT bros, spammers bots etc. truly amazing.
- starter packs: again human made lists of people they recommend to follow. there’s so many starter packs, from artist to follow, musicians, writers, even shitposters lmao.
- feeds: customizable, public timelines. you can create your own or join one of the thousands of feeds out there. you can also create a feed just for your art, so if you have a messy media tab, it keeps your art posts clean and organized!!
- blocking/muting: they have an amazing blocking system. when you block they can’t see your posts or even search you o. the site. they also allow you to mute people, delete specific replies, and even let you detach your post from a quote reblog if they’re trying to cause drama. honestly the best for a drama free environment. they also have very nice post filters so you can mute or completely block posts containing specific words or phrase!
- community: after blocking all the moderation lists it really just seems like a nice oasis for artists, creatives and others to connect with each other and get new followings. i’ve had a lot of people discover my art there and immediate support. it was super sweet.
- NSFW: not really something i like but i know a lot of others will; they allow NSFW content, art and otherwise. They have GREAT moderation so if you’re not interested in seeing those types of post be sure to turn on your content moderation settings.
