I feel like math is simply a language we use to describe the universe that we simply are not able to translate into Language.
The farther down you go into the physics the less the theory is able to be explained in terms of language and the more it must be expressed with math. Hopefully one day we will be able to translate more of these quantum concepts into terms of language that the general populace will be able to understand.
as a senior math major (whos already suffered through real analysis), learning math theory in itself means learning a whole new language. its strange, but also pretty interesting learning how to read mathematical proofs and understand them, as the format, language used, and symbols (SO many goddamn symbols), makes it pretty much inaccessible to those who arent “literate” in it.
