Anyways, I made this piece to celebrate the finale of this amazing series that has done irreversible damage in my head, and nothing makes me happier than enjoying the journey until the very end (please don't let it flop, lineart took forever 😭)

this is a piece about my childhood.

This Yasmin Bratz Kidz doll was my "mini me" growing up (aka the doll I projected myself onto the most). The photo is a picture of the river I played in all my childhood.

I remember the river was always lively with people swimming, tubing, fishing, kayaking, and otherwise just enjoying nature. I remember seeing countless people litter in the same river they were enjoying. I remember being angry at how easily my fellow humans betrayed the river, how easily they allowed their empty beer cans to float away.

I basically vowed to take care of the river. I spent hours a day swimming in this river and collecting any trash I found that was either floating by me or stuck at the bottom.

Despite my efforts, I was just one kid picking up litter in a very small section of a very big and popular river. The river nowadays is silent. The water is not healthy enough for play anymore. I hope one day it will somehow recover and that I can swim in it again.

Im still mad that the central plot of fallout 4 requires the player to care about some dumb fuckin baby in order to emotionally invest in and relate to the character's goals.

I didn't give a fuck about that dumb baby in 2014 and i don't give a fuck now.

Shoulda made it like... a PSP or something. Gamers love those.

#fallout #fallout 4 #in all seriousness though I do feel like it was a lazy plot device #feels like the writers must have been parents who assumed everyone would be able to have this strong parental instinct to relate #but if a player doesnt have that lived experience to draw on it falls flat #game design and writing are an art and something I put a lot of time into studying #and it'd be awesome to see a deeper consideration between the interactivity element of RPG stories and the need to tell a story
