AS FILM FESTIVAL (AsFF) is the first international film festival managed by ND people, i.e neurodivergent people and neurotypical people. It was born as a follow-up of a wider program, started up by Not Equal Association in 2008, and based on the idea of using cinema as a tool for social inclusion. AsFF is unique because it is not a festival about autism, but a film festival made by people with autism.
We are proud to announce that we have has graduate animations selected both for the 2024 and 2025 editions of the festival.
Le Château Des Chats and Madeline’s House were both selected as finalists in Animation Now! Competition in the 2024 edition of AsFF. Both animations were screened during the 2024 Festival, on 16-17th November at Casa del Cinema in Rome.
In 2025 we had three graduate animations chosen as finalists for the Animation Now! Competition. The Elevator, Why Won't Anyone Eat Me and This is The Life were all screened on 15-16th November 2025, at Casa del Cinema in Rome.

We are delighted to announce that our 2025 graduate animation Till The Sun Sets has been officially selected for the ELEMENTS +3 section of the Giffoni Film Festival 2026. The Jury for the ELEMENTS +3 section is comprised of 250 children who will who will award the Gryphon Award to the best animated short film. This year’s festival theme is ‘Impossible Things’.
The 55th edition of the festival will take place from July 17 to July 25, 2026, in Giffoni, Italy.

In October 2024 graduate animation Madeline’s House was selected for the Graduation Short Films Competition at ANIMA Córdoba International Animation Festival in Argentina.
‘The festival is both an academic and cultural event, devoted specifically to animation in its artistic and technological dimensions. Held every odd year since 2001, ANIMA is the main animation event in Argentina and a very influential player in its field in Latin America. Every edition, ANIMA gathers a wonderful community of animators and live action filmmakers, designers, producers, visual and audiovisual artists, who get together and share through panels, seminars, exhibitions, screenings and social networking opportunities.’ (quote from https://filmfreeway.com/animafestival)

Meet Me in the Woods
In February 2025 ‘Meet Me In The Woods’ was screened in the Animation Shorts programme at BAMkids Film Festival in Brooklyn, New York.
BAMkids Film Festival is an annual international film festival featuring a competitive selection of short films from around the world, with many presented in their original languages. The festival has been running for 29 years in 2027.
‘Each year at BAMkids Film Festival, adventure, imagination, and creativity collide on the big screen during one of Brooklyn’s most beloved cinematic traditions’ (quote from BAM.org website).

Why Won’t Anyone Eat Me had two festivals screenings in 2025.
The first screening was in the student competition of the 17th edition of Festival International du Film d'Animation de Paris (PIAFF). The festival took place from the 16th to the 19th of January 2025 at Cinéma Ursulines in Paris.
In March it was screened at Kaboom in Holland. Back in 2019 animation festivals HAFF and KLIK merged to become Kaboom Animation Festival ‘the one-stop-shop for the latest and greatest in all things animated. Ranging from cutting-edge experimental arthouse to colorful stories for families and kids, Kaboom will cater to the animation needs of all’ (from the ‘about us’ section on the festival website). Why Won’t Anyone Eat Me screened in the official competition between the 21st and 30th of March 2025.
Our 2023 graduate animation Le Château Des Chats has become a very popular festival film and has had regular screenings at festivals across the globe since its release. Several of these screenings have come from festivals reaching out to the AUB and/or the film director requesting a screening.
Back in 2024 Athens International Children's Film Festival reached out, inviting Le Château Des Chats to screen in competition in their official programme in November 2024.
In 2025 Le Château Des Chats was invited to screen at Youth Film Festival Antwerp (Belgium) in March, Cactus Film Festival in June (Italy) and at Summer Family Cine Fest (Hong Kong) in August. Now in 2026 Le Château Des Chats has screened in Children’s Film festival ‘Like You’ (Memphis) it has now become our most screened graduate animation. Well done team Chats! Here’s to even more screenings in the future!
Back in April Wrong Date, Bedtime Guardian and Till the Sun Sets were screened as part of the Official Selection at 2D & 3D Animation Film Festival.
2D & 3D Animation Film Festival is an international festival for animated short films founded in 2020 by Giuseppe Rossi and sponsored by Rotaract Club Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi Hirpinia Goleto. The festival takes place in Irpinia, Italy and every year the festival selects short films from the best animation schools in the world.
The festival took place in the Multisala Cinema Nuovo of Lioni, Italy on the 30th of April 2026.

School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF), formerly known as the International Kids Film Festival (IKFF), selected six of our graduate animations for their 2025 festival.
Is Anybody Out There?, The Elevator, Meet Me in the Woods, Twinkle Twinkle, Playing Possum and Daedopolis were all screened in the Animation Short category.
Since its first edition in 2017, the festival has been held in schools across India every year, bringing film and animation from across the globe to school children across India. SCIFF features the following categories: Live-Action Short, Animation Short, Documentary Short and Feature (Live Action/ Documentary/ Animation). SCIFF’s aim is to bring inspiring, meaningful and globally diverse cinema to as many children as possible. The festival was held in various schools across India from the 14th of November to 30th of November 2025.

Back in November we had what one might call an AUB Animation screening feast in Memphis, USA.
Children’s Film festival ‘Like You’ selected a whopping fourteen of our graduate animations for screening at their inaugural film festival.
Like You Children’s Film Festival (LYCFF) is presented by Like You Film Club, a non-profit organisation with the mission to support the emotional growth and mental wellness of kids and families through the power of film.
The inaugural festival took place on November 22-23 at MoSH Pink Palace Museum & Mansion in Memphis.
The Graveyard Shift, Playing Possum, Sweet Troubles, Meet Me in the Woods, Is Anybody Out There?, Bedtime Guardian, Charon, Train Ride, Nobody to Play With, The Man Who Loved Flowers, Le Château Des Chats, Twinkle Twinkle, The Elevator and Himal were all screened.

Exciting news hot of the Press.
Our 2025 graduate animation Magna Marginalia and Simulate have been nominated in the Animation category for the RTS Southern Centre Student Awards 2026. We will be competing against graduate animation Before Lights Out from University for the Creative Arts.
Our BA Film course also received a nomination in the Factual (Long Form) category with the film Pole Position.
The award ceremony will be held at The Hilton - Utilita Bowl in Southampton on Friday the 17th of April at 7 pm.

WWAEM winner
We had some delayed good news from the LJMU MA Short Film Festival. Last year our 2024 graduate animation ‘Why Won’t Anyone Eat Me’ was screened at the festival and won the animation Paper Bird award at LJMU 2025.

LJMU MA Short Film Festival has selected our 2025 graduate animations ‘Look at the Sky’ and ‘Fish Soup’ for their fifth edition taking place from 20th March – 27th March 2026.
The LJMU MA Short Film Festival is run by the MA students at Liverpool John Moores University as part of the Exploring Film Festivals, Distribution and Exhibition module on their course. Since its first edition in 2021 LJMU MA Short Film Festival has been dedicated to showcasing the talents of student filmmakers from across the globe. Entries are accepted in the categories of fiction documentary, and animation, with an experimental showcase featuring emergent talent that pushes the boundaries of film. Since 2021, the LJMU MA Short Film Festival has showcased the work of more than 100 filmmakers from over 40 different countries
The Liver Bird is a symbol of Liverpool John Moores University and the City of Liverpool, and the material of paper reflects the academic context of the LJMU MA Short Film Festival. Paper bird trophies are given to the festival winners. The award ceremony takes place on the 27th of March at 7 pm at Scale.

The International Animation Community Festival of Bilbao - ANIMAKOM FEST began in 2017 with the goal of filling an empty space in the cultural program of Bilbao and its provincial and regional environment. The festival’s aim: to show a wide selection of the best international works of animation films that would not usually be screened in the city. After eight editions the 2024 ANIMAKOM FESTIVAL was to be the last. We were delighted to have our 2024 graduate animation The Elevator screen in this final edition. The festival took place in Bilbao in December 2024. We will leave you with a farewell quote from the festival: ‘ANIMAKOM was born with a deep commitment to the artists — to each of you who make up this extraordinary animation community. It has been an honour to gather in Bilbao to celebrate your work, and more importantly, your friendships and your lives.’ Thank you ANIMAKOM.

Michelle is Feeling Subpar and Magna Marginalia were both selected for the Purbeck Short Film
Festival competing in the Short Film Competition. The short film competition selects both
professional and student productions and awards a variety of different awards within that one
competition. Audience members are invited to vote for their favourite films of the night, while a panel of film professionals select the overall winners.
Graduates from both Michelle is Felling Subpar and Magna Marginalia attended the award evening on the 2nd of November at the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage.
We are very happy to announce that Michelle is Feeling Subpar won the award for Best Student

In July our 2024 graduate animation The Elevator was chosen as a finalist at the World University Animation Awards (WUAA) in Hong Kong.
1,763 submissions from around 600 Universities out of 96 countries and regions were reviewed for the awards and The Elevator was chosen as one of the best 40.
WUAA is presented by the Hong Kong Metropolitan University and took place there from the 15 -16 September 2025.
We are super excited to announce that The Elevator received an Honourable Mention in a very strong category that included master’s projects from Gobelins Paris.
The Elevator director, Oliver Mottram, and producer Maryana Lebedeva attended the event and received their award on stage next to Koji Morimoto the animation director on Akira and Michael Arias the director of Tekkonkinkreet. As part of the event, they also had the opportunity to engage with animators from around the world during screenings and forums and go sightseeing in Hong Kong Cultural areas.

Children’s Film Festival Seattle is a cine-magical extravaganza for tots, teens, and everyone in between! Since 2005, CFFS has grown to become the largest film festival on the West Coast dedicated to children and their families. Each year they programme 150 films from international artists, seeking out joyful, thoughtful stories that give audiences new ways to understand our world and make the global approachable.
The festival took place from July 23 - July 27, 2025 in Seattle.
