School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF), formerly known as the International Kids Film Festival (IKFF), selected six of our graduate animations for their 2025 festival.

Is Anybody Out There?, The Elevator, Meet Me in the Woods, Twinkle Twinkle, Playing Possum and Daedopolis were all screened in the Animation Short category.

Since its first edition in 2017, the festival has been held in schools across India every year, bringing film and animation from across the globe to school children across India. SCIFF features the following categories: Live-Action Short, Animation Short, Documentary Short and Feature (Live Action/ Documentary/ Animation). SCIFF’s aim is to bring inspiring, meaningful and globally diverse cinema to as many children as possible. The festival was held in various schools across India from the 14th of November to 30th of November 2025.

Back in November we had what one might call an AUB Animation screening feast in Memphis, USA.

Children’s Film festival ‘Like You’ selected a whopping fourteen of our graduate animations for screening at their inaugural film festival.

Like You Children’s Film Festival (LYCFF) is presented by Like You Film Club, a non-profit organisation with the mission to support the emotional growth and mental wellness of kids and families through the power of film.

The inaugural festival took place on November 22-23 at MoSH Pink Palace Museum & Mansion in Memphis.

The Graveyard Shift, Playing Possum, Sweet Troubles, Meet Me in the Woods, Is Anybody Out There?, Bedtime Guardian, Charon, Train Ride, Nobody to Play With, The Man Who Loved Flowers, Le Château Des Chats, Twinkle Twinkle, The Elevator and Himal were all screened.

Exciting news hot of the Press.

Our 2025 graduate animation Magna Marginalia and Simulate have been nominated in the Animation category for the RTS Southern Centre Student Awards 2026. We will be competing against graduate animation Before Lights Out from University for the Creative Arts.

Our BA Film course also received a nomination in the Factual (Long Form) category with the film Pole Position.

The award ceremony will be held at The Hilton - Utilita Bowl in Southampton on Friday the 17th of April at 7 pm.

WWAEM winner

We had some delayed good news from the LJMU MA Short Film Festival. Last year our 2024 graduate animation ‘Why Won’t Anyone Eat Me’ was screened at the festival and won the animation Paper Bird award at LJMU 2025.

LJMU MA Short Film Festival has selected our 2025 graduate animations ‘Look at the Sky’ and ‘Fish Soup’ for their fifth edition taking place from 20th March – 27th March 2026.

The LJMU MA Short Film Festival is run by the MA students at Liverpool John Moores University as part of the Exploring Film Festivals, Distribution and Exhibition module on their course. Since its first edition in 2021 LJMU MA Short Film Festival has been dedicated to showcasing the talents of student filmmakers from across the globe. Entries are accepted in the categories of fiction documentary, and animation, with an experimental showcase featuring emergent talent that pushes the boundaries of film. Since 2021, the LJMU MA Short Film Festival has showcased the work of more than 100 filmmakers from over 40 different countries

The Liver Bird is a symbol of Liverpool John Moores University and the City of Liverpool, and the material of paper reflects the academic context of the LJMU MA Short Film Festival. Paper bird trophies are given to the festival winners. The award ceremony takes place on the 27th of March at 7 pm at Scale.

The International Animation Community Festival of Bilbao - ANIMAKOM FEST began in 2017 with the goal of filling an empty space in the cultural program of Bilbao and its provincial and regional environment. The festival’s aim: to show a wide selection of the best international works of animation films that would not usually be screened in the city. After eight editions the 2024 ANIMAKOM FESTIVAL was to be the last. We were delighted to have our 2024 graduate animation The Elevator screen in this final edition. The festival took place in Bilbao in December 2024. We will leave you with a farewell quote from the festival: ‘ANIMAKOM was born with a deep commitment to the artists — to each of you who make up this extraordinary animation community. It has been an honour to gather in Bilbao to celebrate your work, and more importantly, your friendships and your lives.’ Thank you ANIMAKOM.

Earlier this month we had the first outing for two of our 2025 graduate animations.

Michelle is Feeling Subpar and Magna Marginalia were both selected for the Purbeck Short Film

Festival competing in the Short Film Competition. The short film competition selects both  

professional and student productions and awards a variety of different awards within that one

competition. Audience members are invited to vote for their favourite films of the night, while a panel of film professionals select the overall winners.

Graduates from both Michelle is Felling Subpar and Magna Marginalia attended the award evening on the 2nd of November at the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage.

We are very happy to announce that Michelle is Feeling Subpar won the award for Best Student

In July our 2024 graduate animation The Elevator was chosen as a finalist at the World University Animation Awards (WUAA) in Hong Kong.

1,763 submissions from around 600 Universities out of 96 countries and regions were reviewed for the awards and The Elevator was chosen as one of the best 40. 

WUAA is presented by the Hong Kong Metropolitan University and took place there from the 15 -16 September 2025.

We are super excited to announce that The Elevator received an Honourable Mention in a very strong category that included master’s projects from Gobelins Paris.

The Elevator director, Oliver Mottram, and producer Maryana Lebedeva attended the event and received their award on stage next to Koji Morimoto the animation director on Akira and Michael Arias the director of Tekkonkinkreet. As part of the event, they also had the opportunity to engage with animators from around the world during screenings and forums and go sightseeing in Hong Kong Cultural areas.

Children’s Film Festival Seattle is a cine-magical extravaganza for tots, teens, and everyone in between! Since 2005, CFFS has grown to become the largest film festival on the West Coast dedicated to children and their families. Each year they programme 150 films from international artists, seeking out joyful, thoughtful stories that give audiences new ways to understand our world and make the global approachable.

The festival took place from July 23 - July 27, 2025 in Seattle.

We are delighted to announce that our 2024 graduate production Black White and Invisible Red was a winner at Palm Springs International Animation Festival (PSIAF).

Black White and Invisible Red won the 2025 Award for Outstanding First Time Animator.

The PSIAF is a world-renowned event celebrating the best in animation from across the globe.

Beyond screenings, PSIAF also provides a platform for industry recognition and emerging talent through prestigious film awards.

Minimalen Short Film Festival in Trondheim, Norway, requested Train Ride for the children's programme of their 37th edition from January 21-26, 2025.

Following the festival Åsen Black Box & Kino is brought back the success of MiniMinimalen, a short film festival for children in grades 1–4 in Trøndelag, Norway, tduring the summer 2025. MiniMinimalen will screen films from this year’s children's program at the Minimalen Short Film Festival. Train Ride was also selected for that event.

Back in Spring we had three graduate animations screen at Brighton International Animation Festival. From the BA course, The Elevator from 2024, The Man Who Loved Flowers from 2023 and from the MA Animation course, Homodeus from 2022.

The Elevator and Homodeus were both screened in the Fantastical Worlds section and The Man Who Loved Flowers was screened in the Colourful Characters section. All films were nominated for Best Student Award.

Brighton International Animation Festival is the first of its kind! Set on the sunny coast of Brighton, England it is a 3-day annual not-for-profit festival every April run by animators for everyone. The vision of the festival is that it embraces international partnerships and encompasses a global perspective, in addition to providing an accessible place for people to learn about the medium.

In addition to film screenings of both specially curated and in competition programmes, the festival offers hands on animation workshops and talks from industry speakers. This allows both animators and non-animators alike to come and learn about the medium in both an artistic and commercial context.

Back in March Le Château des Chats was screened as a finalist at 2D & 3D Animation Film Festival.

2D & 3D Animation Film Festival is an international festival for animated short films founded in 2020 by Italian director and writer Giuseppe Rossi.

Every year the festival has in the official selection short films from the best animation schools in the world. The main focus of the festival is on films that combine both 2D and 3D animation. 3D that looks like 2D (in the style of The Peanuts Movie, Madagascar, Hotel Transylvania, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot) or 2D that looks like 3D (in the style of Klaus).

The festival took place in the Multisala Cinema Nuovo of Lioni, Italy on the 28th of March 2025.

Last autumn Madeline’s House was selected for the Panorama section of festival Anilogue international animation film festival.

The festival took place for the 22nd time, from November 27th to December 1st, 2024, in Budapest, Hungary. Featuring 13 feature length films, a thrilling short film competition program, a focus on Dutch animation, multiple star guests and masterclasses, an animated pajama party.

Our 2024 graduate animation The Elevator has been selected for the special screening ANIMATOR UNSCREENED at the 18th International Animated Film Festival Animator 2025. The main purpose of this category is to present the films that were "almost" selected to main competition. One of those films will be granted by the audience the "Wild Card" and will be screened in the main competition.

The Animator International Animated Film Festival in Poznań is the largest animated film festival in Poland. The first edition was held in 2008 and marked the culmination of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Polish Animation. During each edition of the Festival, some 300 films from around the world are showcased, including retrospectives, reviews, premieres or animation classics. The program also has sections related to games and virtual reality.

The festival will take place in Poznań, Poland from the 5-13 of July 2025.

Jeugd - Youth Film Festival Antwerp 2025

Earlier this year Le Château des Chats was screened at JEUGD - Youth Film Festival Antwerp 2025.

The 37th edition of our youth film festival took place from 16 February to 9 March 2025 in Antwerp, Belgium. The festival has screening for kids of all ages and offer screenings at schools. Besides the many film screenings JEUGD also has a games lab and a variety of industry panels.
