Charles/Barbara friendship

They both go through instense yet brief obsessions of hobbies/tv shows/habits. These interests started to sync up so they started to take up things together and then just get bored of it a week later and find something new to do. One of these things was definitely buying and testing different infomercial products.

They’re the surprisingly messy ones in the house and have a slight tendency to hoard things. They just love all their random junk and they love to play show and tell with it okay!

Charles always checks in with Barbara whenever he gets insecure about his parenting skills and goes to her for reassurance because he can tell she has a natural maternal instinct and he respects her so much all she does for Lydia.

Barbara sees Charles as a really comforting/calming presence in the house and she always feels grounded and secure with him around.

They just match up socially really well and conversation flows naturally with them. They could casually talk about anything for hours.

Delia/Adam friendship

They’re both knowledge nuts. They love to know a little bit about everything so they to spend time together researching and talking about a new topic literally every day.

Going off of the previous point, they both have massive respect for each other’s interests. They will sit there and be completely invested and present for what the other person has to say. You bet your ass Adam learned the names and meanings of a bunch of crystals and Delia built a jewelry box to keep said crystals in.

Delia loves to have Adam help pick out her outfits because he just gasses her tf up.

They cook together often and love experimenting with vegan recipes.

They can get really giggly and hyper around each other. Like no one makes Adam laugh like Delia does.

I’ve never really written for Charles before, so I hope this does him justice!!

Because his first couple interactions with Charles weren’t exactly his brightest parenting moments, Adam had some choice words ready to battle it out in favor of Lydia’s protection. However, after Charles followed her to the Netherworld, it didn’t take long for Adam to realize that he truly is a good father who was also lost and grieving along with his daughter.

They both loveeee superhero comics and like to spend their free time on weekends sharing their extensive comic book collections.

They gush about their wives all the time and help each other to plan little surprises and gifts for them.

Adam’s super empathetic and considerate so he can always seem to tell when Charles gets upset about Emily. He’s been working on helping Charles with the toxic masculinity that he’s lived with by working through his emotions and expressing them instead of bottling it up.

Charles has a bunch of tools and hardware supplies that he was always too busy for because of work. Knowing Adam was into building and repairing, he gave him all the supplies. Adam encouraged Charles to let him teach him so they could both share the tools. Together, they end up building a new desk for Lydia.

They’re both just big goofy softies that like to joke around. They have A LOT of inside jokes that they’re constantly snickering about and everyone in the house just rolls their eyes at the silliness.

The dad energy is so strong and they take pride in that. They share dad jokes back and forth and share them at the dinner table.

After deciding that the Maitlands were staying for good with the Deetz family, Delia flocked towards Barbara immediately—she loved her energy and was happy to have another strong woman in the house.

Lydia never wanted to do traditional “girly” bonding stuff that Delia planned, so she freaked out in the best way when Barbara was interested instead and asked if she could join.

Both being early risers, they love to start their day by sitting on the porch and drinking some herbal tea together. They watch the sunrise and chat. Most of the time it’s about what’s going on that day, but occasionally they’ll get deep and let slip something painful that’s happened in their pasts. They’re both such great listeners that they find a lot of comfort in these talks.

Barbara didn’t understand Delia’s whole deal with the crystals and the spirituality at first. She would always be polite, but Delia still sensed her hesitation. So one day Delia took Barbara into her study and gave her a full run down of everything she does and even gave her a reading. After that, Barbara never questioned Delia once, no matter how “out there” her ideas were.

They talk about Lydia all the time to make sure their girl is doing okay🥺 They also share mothering tips and bond over the always present underlying struggle of being Lydia’s mom but not mom.

Whenever Barbara is feeling down about being dead and stuck at home, Delia will share all of the town gossip she’s heard to cheer her up and make her laugh.

They watch chick flicks together and cry and snuggle. I don’t make the rules.

They put each other on to their favorite hobbies. Barbara teaches Delia how to garden and Delia teaches Barbara how to meditate and make candles.

They love to quietly sing and hum together while making meals for the Deetzs’ and Beetlejuice

Adam loves to rest Barbara’s head in his lap and brush her hair before bed

In return, Barbara would always give Adam his haircuts in the middle of their kitchen

While alive, they would foster dogs and cats from the shelter until they found permanent homes

When playing any kind of game, they always have to be on the same team because Barbara’s really competitive and Adam’s just her proud cheerleader

Once settling into their deaths, they began doing sunset yoga together because Delia thought it would calm the couple’s nerves

Whenever they hold hands, they always interlace their fingers and arms because they want to be as connected as they can

After watching a documentary on the science of touch, they started a running tally to make sure everyone in the house got enough hugs everyday

Barbara LIVES for receiving forehead kisses, while Adam likes her cheek kisses

They have matching pajamas. Like more than one set.
