Tamsin leaned over the balcony of her new apartment, the city lights stretching endlessly below her. Someone’s car alarm echoed against the hum of electricity, the thrum of a night club nearby — probably Waterside Wharble that she’d seen today. She wrapped her fingers around the cool railing and sighed, dropping her shoulders just a pixel.

Everything seems right from up here, she thought to herself, for now at least. Doubt pricked at the edges of her focus.

Above the whisper of wind between buildings and the buzz of traffic, Tamsin imagined the life she was meticulously building for herself. Her career. Her apartment. Her routine.
