I'm feeling so scared right now...
I just wanna get away from this damned place and never come back.
I just wanna feel safe.
Let’s run away together 🥺💔
Halloween in Bikini Bottom
hey! ducks are adorable and everybody likes feeding them, but bread causes a number of environmental and health problems that could easily be avoided. instead of bread, consider feeding duckies:
frozen peas or corn that’s been defrosted!
romaine lettuce (torn into small pieces)
bird feed of any kind
rice (cooked or uncooked!)
uncooked oats
grapes cut in half
earthworms
Re-blogged at the speed of light, phone obliterated.
I was worried about rice (considering the whole wedding rice thing) but it seems ducks are not affected by rice like other birds. C:
Actually birds are affected by rice at all. It was a myth that rice expanded in birds stomachs when they would drink water after eating it. Rice expands when it’s in boiling water, so in reality it’s impossible for the rice to expand since they’re stomachs don’t get hot enough to actually boil water. If the stomach acids haven’t broken the rice down by the time they get some water, the most the water would do is make it soggy and mushy
This I did not know. Thank you much!
Though, I would consider the difference between rice in the field and processed minute rice. Rice in the field has a shell that protects it which is removed before we get it and minute rice has been precooked on top of that. All the evidence that rice isn’t harmful uses field rice and uncooked rice as its basis but no one mentions minute rice so its possible its still harmful to an extent. Probably not “explosive” but could possibly cause blockage or something.
Minute rice requires a specific heat as well before it cooks/expands, which is probably the temperature of boiling water since the instructions of minute rice require boiling the water first.
Worst thing with rice as far as I know is it has no nutritional value. I cant find anything about it causing blockages when searching. Nothing i’ve read about rice and birds mention blockages, not even from ornithologists(bird experts)
