it basically stems from not having any money for official merch of my favorite things lol also bc i can never find merch of what i like where i live🤧🤧 so basically started from that and i've always liked making miniatures and stuff w whatever i had available for my dolls and lps hehe

whatever i make is mainly inspired by already existing merch or i base it on official art that i like, it really depends but i would love to make an original design or more complex figures someday in the close future😌🙏

as for the finishing and stuff i just do a shit ton of passes of sanding and adding material until it looks as smooth as i possibly can get it, obviously i can't beat a machine and they're not perfect but since i'm the one making them they always come out to my liking😎😎

hai! seeing ur cool art on my dash really inspires me to go back to drawing thank uuu,, i also went to art school and i really really love it but. it’s so hard to me when i don’t have anything to put on background,,, sounds stupid but i really can’t concentrate on the drawing if i just listen to music/ sit in silence i need something like an yt video or tv show…..,,, do u have this problem? how does your drawing routine usually look like? ^-^ thank u!!! mwah

i'm kinda the same🤔 i usually need something playing as background noise too, i sometimes watch youtube videos but i mostly listen to music while i draw, that way i don't get the urge to go and watch the vid instead of drawing lol also i always have my playlist on shuffle so i dont get bored of my songs in the same order andd every song is a surprise xd (my playlist is also just 160 hours of all the songs i like whithout any order)

still when i DO watch videos i usually choose ones i've already watched a ton so i basically know them by heart and dont get distracted w wanting to focus on the visuals.

i still come back to tumblr bc it feels like there's less pressure to post something w the mentality to get engagement.

Saw the other ask, so I wanted to ask something aswell. When more professional artists(like you) say they practice, what exactly do you mean? Like what are considered the basics? (I'm so sorry if this is a silly question) If you could share resources even if it's just a few youtube links, it'd help! Unfortunately a self taught artist here. Love the dnp arts

what i mean when i say practicing the basics i mean i started with practicing anatomy, gesture drawing and composition, and if u like painting then color theory is also a must.

i actually started w youtube tutorials when i decided i wanted to take making art seriously way back when

i found the prokotv channel and that taught me a lot abt basic anatomy, ovbiously it's not the same as having a teacher actually see and correct your drawings in person but for starting out its great.

i've also found that copying is super good practice for stuff so i would just browse pinterest, find reference pics and fill a full page of just one thing (like hands, feet or even facial features like noses and eyes) that way u get used to the lines that make up that feature. u can also use yourself as reference by taking pictures or drawing in front of a mirror and using that as reference.

something we did in my drawing class was make still life drawings of geometric shapes (we literally made little boxes, cones, piramids and a sphere out of paper) that way u practice shading, composition and perspective that can be applied to more complex things. (I don't have pics of any of the drawings i did for this drawing excercise sorry if it just uninteligible T_T)

for color theory its a bit more complicated since there's a lot of diferent materials and stuff to paint, still it was kind of more of the same starting out by painting in black and white to get the hang of light values and slowly adding colors by using diffefent color palettes (monochromatic, dichromatic, etc) i say a lot of painting practice is training your eye to see the nuances in the shapes you paint but that also comes w a looot of practice.

i don't have any specific youtube links bc i just don't remember what videos helped me since it was quite a while ago i started drawing, but yeah the proko channel has a ton of videos on all i touched on here.

yep i draw in ms paint all the time 😋 i find that the tools being simple just gives me a different line quality when sketching that i quite like idk

also i think it makes me less pressured to start drawing since the ui is just less intimidating

i did a simple-ish design this time bc i was w my friends while i did part of these and we had a manicure party hehe

also this time i did one hand short just to see if i liked it and i gotta say i found it to be suuuper comfy especially since i love doing crafts 10/10 i recomend tbh

how do u draw ur shadows so well ?! i’m p sure u said u used ms paint one time and i can only get so far w just lineart/sketching ahaha…

i dont know if i have specific tips necesarily maybe just 🤔 i always need to have a reference pic (especially for specific lighting) and adapt what you see to what you're drawing. if u cant find what you're looking for u can always take your own. also i draw w a mirror in front of me and that always helps me when im drawing people lol

practice w simpler stuff first, like small still life studies, to get the hang of the basics 🤧🤧 i used to draw whole pages of the same thing to practice bodyparts and things i wasn't used to drawing

i know it's reeally tedious and cliché but practicing the boring stuff first makes everything easier later on 😪 i go to art school so i got a lot of my fundamentals from there but i started w youtoube tutorials like a lot of people
