back in my psych era
do we think i'm funny yet 1 🍍 2 🍍 3 🍍 4 🍍 5 🍍 6 🍍 7
i really love all the subtle, non-verbal acting choices that are made in psych that tell the audience just how close shawn and gus are
ive just got to season 3 and 2 moments that really jump out to me are in S3E3 when shawn and gus are investigating the stunts set uo anf shawn completely casually gets candy from the machine and hands some to gus with zero communication while theyre sneaking around,
and then in S3E4 , Jack hands shawn and gus the masks and again, with zero words exchanged they immediately know to swap them around and start doing silly voices :)
its just the really small moments like that which sells their relationship so well and solidifies to the audience that these two really know each other so well its so cute and a lesser show wouldnt have thought it necessary to include stuff like that but psych does which is what makes it so awesome
let's hear it for the boy!! 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / ...
some duo ones this time!!

I have a lot of feelings about Psych. A black male lead that doesn’t fall into stereotypes. A cop-adjacent show that doesn’t prop up the police as infallible or even necessarily good. A genuinely compelling m/f romance that wasn’t forced. Not textually queer but the undercurrent of queerness isn’t treated like a joke (mostly). A complicated father-son relationship that doesn’t paint either party as irredeemable. A cast of main characters that are clearly neurodivergent but are accepted with love. A comedy show that doesn’t shy away from serious emotions when it needs to.

They just don't want him getting left out 🥺
my favorite things about Shawn Spencer are that he:
✅️ can take a punch
❌️ can NOT fight at all
✅️ has unbelievable aim
❌️ does not own a gun
✅️ can track down criminals
❌️ has NO stamina and cannot run
what i think the psych characters would smell like!! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
they just so cute🍍
The Shawn & Gus dynamic in Psych is so subtly yet beautifully shaped by the fact that they cast a naturally deadpan introvert to play the world's most hyperactive attention-seeking detective, then cast a chronic theater kid to play his supposedly boring, reasonable best friend
gus is THE funniest man alive for having his best friend of thirty years, who he fully plans to grow old beside and who he loves like a sibling, in his phone as "Shawn (Work)"
